D&D Goodness

It wasn't a rousing success, but it did seem to go fairly well. Late start, as always. We've got:

Fromm: Ex, CE Half-orc barbarian. Waaayyy too many weapons for his own good. Collects ears.

Doc: Slugger, CN Halfling Rogue. Cute, perverted, still carrying that bloody unicorn butt.

Cammie: Some unprouncable name, CG Elf Cleric. Follows the Sun God.

Lisa: Q, LE Human Mage, complete with tiger familiar. The tiger racked up more hits then anyone else. Go fig.

Me: Song, LN Elf Rogue. Charisma 19, I'm one sexhay elf. *wink*

Doc will have to help me on the girls' real and char names. I didn't study everyone's sheets prior, my mistake.

We spent two days exploring a box canyon, looking for a wizard's tower. I had to do some really quick thinking on the fly when they went poking in areas I purposely left blank. Sticking a single dryad in a canyon may not have been the best idea, but it worked and those who showed her kindness were rewarded. Ex was not and spent the night muttering about monsters and sharpening his sword. There's a lot of infighting in this group. Song's going to spend a LOT of time on the sidelines watching. And flirting with Slugger. I made it up to Ex when they went poking around in a random cave. ^^;; Traps are harder then I thought, but it worked.

To be finished later...

Later...

I need more low level monsters. These guys can't hit for squat. Neither can I, apparently. >_> I wasn't kidding about the tiger. He killed three monsters by himself! The ghouls were the most fun, actually. Fortitude saves. *nods sagely* I'll review the monster book and the DM book, which Fromm was so kind as to leave behind for me. See what other kinds of nasties I can litter this canyon with. These guys have to get up to 2nd level before taking on the wizard. Guess I'll have to be generous with them on XP. And ban the GBAs. And the handcuffs. No fair playing with them when I can't.

We did that, actually.

To a degree. Nobody has ability scores below 10, that was with 4d6, drop the lowest one. I squeaked by with 2 11s, 1 10 and everything else was 14+. 19 Charisma. I love it! Everyone's AC is above 14, so they don't get hit that often. I do think I need to curb the Spot and Listen rolls, though. The girls were REALLY bad about rolling over and over and over until they got a 16+. "No, you don't hear anything." "You see tan walls." "You hear rustling." "There's two dire bats above you. What do you do?"

Not to mention these guys are really, really bad about splitting up. Heh.

Don't be afraid to be a hard-ass.

Listen/spot/search/etc checks generally hold for anywhere between an hour or two up to a day game-time, which is usually at least a session's worth of play. If they don't make the checks, jump 'em! :P

And I can't believe I spelled 'throw' as 'through'. *hangs head in shame*

Aye, mon Elf.
