How does one deal with a painful happiness? With bittersweet joy? Where one is rejoicing in being able to do certain things and blinking hard to prevent crying in public?

I am pleased with the Spangly Elephant decisions. It's making this whole Thing seem more real. Reality is a little scary. I KNOW it's okay, intellectually. I know my family and friends will support me, which is a LOT more then I got in previous Things. (My parents have yet to support ANY marital decision I've made, even though they warmed up to Wolf before we moved out East. This is why my parents will receive announcements and not actual invitations. What's the point? Damn, that hurts.)

This bittersweetness will take time to process. It would be nice if I could figure out how to process it faster and/or more easily.

You and your sensible ideas that appeal to my major otaku-ness. And I found GORGEOUS robes in a lovely shade of violet.

I expect you to wear comfortable dressy flats. I expect everyone else to wear comfortable dressy whatevers. Comfortable shoes are critical, IMHO. Spangly Elephant is eyeing open toed heels for me, we'll see if I can talk it into something else.

I don't believe there is any reason for bride shoes to have to match attendant shoes, as long as they are similar. For my brother's wedding, the attendants wore ballet flats dyed to match their (extremely unattractive) dresses and the bride wore heels.

I'm thinking the deep purple one. Obi can be a beyatch to tie, so I'll probably go with wide silver sashes and do simple bows in the back with the ends tucked in.

Well, I meant sash, because obi are very expensive and fiddly and not good for sitting comfortably.

As pretty as this is, their sizing will never fit me. But there is much time to look.
