Alas, she is lost to me.

My Sexy has been totaled.

Sad Panda.

(No, I'm not getting a Panda, they don't export them to the US and they're much too small for my brood and not equipped enough for me, I am now addicted to keyless go and MUST HAVE IT AGAIN!)

Ahem.

Market value topped out near 16k after taxes. I have no idea how much I'm actually getting back for the car, as it was a lease and all that. I also have no idea what to do next. SLB and Mama A are going to the dealership to salvage the plates and whatever else is in the car we need tomorrow, hopefully they'll beat the insurance tow truck.

Can anybody tell me what to expect?

Unfortunately, if you go to a car dealer, expect to be ignored, since you are female. It's a sad thing, but it still happens. Do you have a local mechanic who can recommend someplace that sells cars?

I'm sorry to hear Sexy has died. Maybe your next car can be named Panda.

Also since it's a lease you did not own the car so I have no idea:

Thankfully, Serafini Nissan does NOT ignore me and their female sales rep is a doll. She took very good care of me after Wolf died and I'm looking forward to working with her again.

Well, according to State Farm, they will pay off the lease directly to Nissan Finance. If there's anything left, either from the payoff or the insurance money, I will get that back.

Either way, I'm going to have to call the dealership tomorrow at some point (hahaha) and see what can be done.

Have you considered buying a moderately used car instead of a new lease?

Actually, working on that side of the car market has pretty much soured me on used. Yes, they can be cheaper in the long run, but I like getting a brand new car every 2-3 years with comprehensive warranties and gap insurance. And I've seen too many deals go south due to underhanded tactics and bad dealing. I know V at Serafini won't screw me over.
