Adventure, thy name is Snake

When I went to feed Jazz-cat this evening, I hear a long even hiss. I look around, wondering at the steady hissing, and spot Sheshanaga coiled around one of the drawers above Jazz-cat's feeding station, hissing for all he's worth.

"How did you get out?" I ask. He hisses. Jazz-cat demands food. I feed Jazz-cat and sit down to figure out what to do. Sheshanaga hisses every time we move. I decide to move the drawers out and see if I can get him uncoiled. After I tape up the gaps in the mesh screen lid.

After removing Jazz-cat and roping IDK (Indestructo-kiddo) into helping with a towel, we manage to get the drawers out and Sheshanaga down into the third drawer. He strikes out at times and hisses with every breath. From there I use Wolf's staff to poke, lift and nudge him out of the drawer and into his open cage, as covering him with a towel was not calming him and I didn't want to grab him when he's this freaked out. He continues to hiss as the lid is shoved closed and I wrap him in blankets to calm him.

I have to say, that snake has an impressive hiss! No idea how long he was out or if Jazz-cat managed to hurt him. I didn't see any open wounds or blood, and Jazz-cat wasn't limping around on a chewed up paw or complaining of a bitten nose. Still, quite an adventure. Good thing I can sort-of channel Steve Irwin.

That was an adventure!

I'm glad neither Sheshanaga nor Jazz were harmed.

Sheshanaga is quite an escape artist. I'm glad he didn't get far this time.
