A metallic "thunk" echoes from three computers.  Candy throws up her hands.

"Yay!   We did it!"  She bounces happily in her recliner.  I glance at Cherie, stretching beside me.  Her movements force me to swallow hard.  God, I want her!

"Wow.  Almost three hours.  What time is it anyway?"  Cherie asks, glancing around.  I check my watch.

"12:30."  Three days to Halloween.  My fingers twitch as I shut down the game.  I cannot wait to see Cherie as Moon.

"Really?"  Candy closes her laptop.  "Wow.  Doesn't feel that late."

"It will once we get home."  Cherie says with a grin.  I set aside my laptop and help her to her feet.  Candy gathers the trays and stacks them on my coffee table.  Cherie looks deep into my eyes.  "You're sure I won't regret whatever Candy has planned."

"I will personally see to it you have the best Halloween of your life."  I say solemnly, kissing her hand.  She shivers, her eyes taking on a familiar glow.

"I'm going to hold you to that."  She says, a bit breathless.  I smile, feeling very pleased that I can affect her.  I escort both women to the door, giving Candy a hug and Cherie a quick, gentle kiss.  After the door shuts behind them, I prop myself against it and sigh heavily.  I know I'm afraid.  Last time I kissed her the way I wanted to, we were assaulted.  It's silly, but my subconscious has linked deep, passionate kisses with danger.  I've been handling her with kid gloves ever since.  This afternoon's match showed me the futility of continuing that course.

"The best way to fight fear is to face it."  My dad's voice rings in my head.  As always, he's right.  I need to secure a location, make sure it is safe, and then kiss Cherie.  Really kiss her.  From there, if I'm very lucky...my heart pounds at the thought.  I am not going to get much sleep tonight.

-------------------------------

One day to Halloween.  I have my final fitting in two hours.  But first, I want to see Cherie.  I head down the hall to her dorm room.  Suddenly, Candace bangs out of their door, slamming it behind her.  I freeze in mid-step, my hackles going up.  Candace spots me.

"If you value your manhood, do NOT go in there."  She warns me, pointing right at my chest.  I blink in surprise.

"Let me guess.  You told her."

"She swore at me in Japanese!"  Candy's chest heaves in rage.  I force myself not to smile.

"At least she didn't catch you in the gut."  Her mouth falls open.

"Sher hit you?"

"She needed to vent.  We had an impromptu sparring match."  I wave it aside.  "Girl's got a mean left hook, let me tell you."

"Yeah, I know."  Candy shakes her head.  "I knew she was holding too much in, but to punch you..."

"I could have blocked it.  Cherie isn't the only one trained in martial arts."  I wink at Candy, who's jaw has once again swung open.  "I don't suppose offering to let her come to my fitting would help?"

"NO!"  Candy flies down the hall, waving her hands wildly.  "Don't you DARE show her before tomorrow night!  Just...talk her down, ok?  I'll be back in a while.  Remember, no early shows."  Candy pokes me a few times in the ribs before walking away.  I chuckle, shaking my head.  Faint heart never won fair lady, after all.  Marching over to the door, I knock.

"Cherie?  May I come in?"  The door opens to reveal a still-simmering Cherie.  I fold my hands behind my back before I try something stupid, like kissing her.

"You said I wouldn't regret it."  She growls at me.  I nod once.

"Yes I did and I intend to keep that promise."

"I HATE magical girls.  Especially Sailor Moon."

"As Tuxedo Kamen, you were mysterious and alluring."  I lean forward, tipping my head so my lips brush against her ear.  "As Sailor Moon, you will be devastating.  I'm going to have my hands full fighting all the men off."  I whisper, smiling wickedly.  She yelps and skips back into her room, rubbing her ear fiercely.  I follow her, closing the door.  "So, are you going all the way or will we be seeing an auburn Moon?"  She glares, then drops her head.

"I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon for extensions."

"Good.  Leave your eyes alone."

"Wh...what?"

"As much as I'd love to see you in full cosplay mode, I have something very special planned tomorrow night.  I would prefer it if I see your natural green glowing."  She blushes.  I can't resist.  I gently stroke her cheek, watching her reaction.  "Yes, just like that."  I whisper and she whimpers.  My fist clenches.  Not yet!  This place is not as safe as I would prefer.  I pull back.  "Would you like to get something to drink?  I have an appointment in an hour and a half, but I want to be with you."

"A cold drink is exactly what I need right now."
