I feel the need to expand the nerdiness...
Nov. 4th, 2009 06:01 pmOk, Trigun fans. Give me your best actor picks!
(This is really sad for me, as I know a good Milly, Meg and I would have to mud-wrestle for the Meryl role, and Vash is currently a line cook in CO and wouldn't go for it. ((He'd also make a kick ass Spike, but I couldn't convince him to buy the costume.)))
Hum.
Vash: Brendon Fraiser
Meryl: Tina Fey
Milly: Drew Barrymore (Yes, yes, I know. Typecasting. Shut up)
Wolfwood: Oh, dear, too many choices.
Knives: Oops, dinner time. More on this later.
In a totally unrelated note, Star Motors will have a 30sec ad during tonight's World Series game. That's ONE ad and you don't want to know how much it cost.

Because this is just AWESOME
Aug. 24th, 2009 09:50 pmEto, the wonderful artist of Mory's Education (google it! NOW!), is still taking art commissions. I already have one, it's where this avatar comes from, where my two favorite characters share a dance in the moonlight. Lilly is the bubbly, cheerful, pagan, fennic fox poet. Guyth is the gloomy, angsty, butterfly poet. They are two sides of the same coin. He's hopelessly in love with her, and she has learned to like him (source of many jokes in the comic), but he won't speak of it and she's clueless. Hence, the dance picture was named "Never".
I contacted Eto in June in the hopes of getting another commission. It came just in time for Wolf's birthday. I've put it behind a cut as it is not as large as I thought. (click twice on the picture to get a good look at the details, they're GORGEOUS)
( Maypole )
I sent a copy to Wolf, he called it "dirty". Once he explained, I was blushing. What caught my attention was the expression on Guyth's face. It's EXACTLY the same look Wolf still gives me.
So, fellow pagans and various artists, what do YOU think?
(the two in the background are Mory and Randy. Mory's the main character and Randy's her loverboy.

Moar piiiictures.
Jul. 31st, 2009 08:07 pmThis is for Zahde, who specifically requested it.
This is the lousy draw shot. Notice the bad angle and overall awkwardness with long, sharp metal. This will have to be rectified. The child support checks are still coming in, (makes 6 so far!), so we have free money to purchase wig and/or practice sword. I've decided I will learn with my sakabatou, flipped so sharp edge is away from n00b until a comfort level is reached. Might as well get used to the weight, de gazorou ka?
*Calculates*
Jul. 17th, 2009 07:56 amOk, so regular humdrum USPS mail takes two-three days to deliver a letter from NY to MA.
Label and payment for Kenshin costume mailed Wednesday, which means it was picked up Thursday morning.
So, it should reach MA Saturday or Monday.
Presuming Monday arrival, and same day mailing of Kenshin costume, and since UPS has about the same turn-around time as USPS, I should have my precious by Wednesday. Possibly as late as Friday.

Jul. 18th, 2008 07:41 pmSo I get this simply wonderful review on Speed Onis, kind and thoughtful and informing me there's nothing this person can criticize and I got all misty and wrote them back thanking them for their very kind review and then I get an email from them saying how happy he was that his review made ME happy and explaining why he wrote what he wrote and then asking me for a little more personal information and lo and behold, he's Japanese and I almost fell over as "Mamma Mia" began playing on Pandora and promptly went all fangirl gushy before calming down and telling him a little bit about myself and I know I'm older then him but GODS, wave a Japanese person in my face and I go OTAKU, I swear and this is a horribly run on sentence and I still can't believe that a Japanese boy (cause I'm pretty sure I'm about 10 years older) actually LIKES what I'm doing to Ranma and Akane and now I'm one step closer to my very own Japanese boy farm and if ANYONE gets that reference I will bake them cookies.
Weekender in Perspective, Friday
May. 5th, 2008 12:16 pmFriday night was Iron Man. My perspective (and probable spoilers) are below.
( Will that be all, Mr. Stark? )
Next up, Speed Racer and Prince Caspian. Gods, how could I have forgotten Caspian? Reepicheep! Reepicheep! Reepicheep! That very flower of chivalry, all cute and furry and a foot tall with the most magnificent tail ever to grace a mouse. Just don't ever cuddle him, you'll offend his dignity. ^_^

In which I totally fangirl out.
May. 2nd, 2008 02:57 pmIt's May and apparently that means summer movies. I was already excited about Iron Man, which Wolf and I will see tonight. (After I shook my fist and yelled at the NPR review for calling Tony Stark "too many layers that add up to a whole bunch of nothing". It's TONY STARK. He's COMPLICATED. At least they gave Pepper her due. Gwynneth! Yay!) I'm also jonesing for Speed Racer and am seriously tempted to try and dress up as Trixie, just cause. Even if the racing looks more like Matchbox tracks then cross country.
I already knew about Batman, Dark Knight (is that the title?), and can't wait to see how Heath plays Joker. I personally prefer Nicholson's over the rest, so that's the standard I'll be holding Heath to. ^_^
Indy 4 I will go see, if we can, but I'm not as eager as I am with the previous movies. Yes, I love Indy, always have, but let's face it. Harrison's getting old, it's time to pass the fedora. And yeah, Shea Lebouf might be just the kid to pass it to, since River's long gone. *sigh*
But...but...is it true? Hellboy 2? With Perlman? Really and truly? Because I just LOVED the first one, the sheer romance of it all with Hellboy and the Fire chick whose name totally escapes me.
Now, if Marvel really wanted to rock my socks off, they'll get a good script together and start working on Dr. Strange. The Master of Mysticism has gone too long having his story told in cameos and the occasional made for video movie. I need me some Strange! With the hot demon chick and the arch enemy, who's tailor made for Tim Curry.
Lessee, who would make a good Strange. Any suggestions?

The comic bookery just keeps coming!
Jan. 7th, 2008 10:29 am( I am Ironman! )
I am sooo going to see this. Not because Robert Downing Jr. can relate to Tony Stark on a deep and personal level, *snicker*, but for Sammie Jackson and Gwenyth Paltrow as Nick Fury and Pepper, respectively.
Yeah, that's right! Jackson with an eyepatch! S.H.I.E.L.D is finally gonna have a baaaaaaddd motherfucker. May that Hasseldorf idiot be striken from all records and memories.
Now all Marvel has to do is make a Dr. Strange live action and I will be a happy fangirl.

Interesting weekend.
Dec. 11th, 2006 12:28 pmSaturday was spent running errands. Got the car's oil changed, new windshield wipers purchased, and the SS stuff for the ship, also got bills paid and groceries and two loads of laundry done.
Sunday was spent in the Springs. Bought donuts and hung out with my folks for a while, had a spirit encounter while sitting there with Dad, Wolf caught it first, the scent of Old Spice aftershave as it smelled on his dad. I caught a wiff of cologne that morphed into a strong apple smell.
Dad didn't smell anything at all.
*shrug*
Also got all the goodwill stuff out of the car and donated, picked up the cadet gift after searching two Walmarts, spent some time poking around World Market (found the British crackers I'd love to get to have on Christmas Eve, but that's $13 we might not have to spend) and ended up at Pike's Perk sipping Kona coffee and Spiced Plum tea and just talking. It was very pleasant.
On the way out of the parking lot, we spotted a game shop. Curious, we stopped in. They had had some anime, but it was mostly cleared out to sell on Ebay. Classic case of buying stock they knew nothing about. On a bottom shelf was some Rurouni Kenshin and Fruits Basket manga and several Saiyuki and Trigun DVDs. Sadly, the Trigun were the latter half of the series. Kenshin consisted of Vol 1&2, then 6-12.
"Forty percent off!" The guy tells us.
*cocks eyebrow*
So now I own the first two copies of Kenshin. It's English in the proper Japanese format and OH MY GODS, the artwork is awesome. There's lots of character info in there too, and even a cute little bonus story showing Kenshin as a hugger, trying to comfort this one girl who's remarkably like Kaoru and responds to his embraces with fists to his head. Best part, they kept the "Oro"! ^_^
I'm such a geek. Surprise Christmas gift for Queenie!
Now I need to make sure Wolf gets a nice cigar or two.

Dec. 2nd, 2006 08:39 amHe's here! He's here! Shippo has arrived and oh my gods he is so kawaii I had to cuddle him and hold him on my lap and show him off to the girls of the club and they all agreed he is the cutest thing ever and now I want an Inuyasha of the same size, cause Sesshomaru is just kinda creepy, but Inuyasha is cool and Shippo has a fluffy, fluffy tail and he fits in my hands and he's just SO CUTE!!!!

I have no Slayers reference for Camilla. Except that one priestess who ran around first season. "Oh Gourry dear!"
No, Camilla's MUCH more annoying. And incredibly masochistic. *shudder* Oh well, at least we got plenty of fan service! Yay for fan service! Did not detract from the rampant stupidity, though...
Although episode four did get me thinking about that Hellsing tangent. No way in HELL Alucard would stick around if Integral broke the bond. Nope. That vamp would be soooo out of there.
Although I DO see him either killing or turning Integral before he left.
Makes me wish I could draw.

Aug. 2nd, 2006 07:35 am"Yeah, that's me. Pure as New York snow."
"No man had ever won a battle on the couch of Venus. He concluded they had at least fought to a draw and was satisfied."
"All women have power. Virginity is a sign they've never shared their power. The woman who never shares is as much of a traitor to her sex as the woman who shares with every man she meets."
"Wa-choo! *sniff* Somebody's talking about me."
And thus, as my bleeding time approaches, my mind turns to spirituality and how I'm really not doing enough for my own. The urge to cut my hair is a sign of this. I seek change, a break from the drudgery of everyday living, trying to scrape by paycheck to paycheck, and not willing to sacrifice the one permanent job I've had in the last four years to go looking for something else. I'm in a good market right now and I love the office. My desk-mate even left me her CD player so I could listen to my J-pop without disturbing those who've complained about it. She's on vacation. EVERYBODY in this office is going on vacation through the month of August.
The last time I had a vacation was 1995.
Even Wolf gets time off, which he'll promptly use up in the next few weeks to stay home and try to write.
I don't get vacation time until January and I already know what I want to use it on. Going back East next October for the Change.
Yes. I desire change. Internally and externally. I need to delve more deeply into Shintoism.
And I still want that hair cut.
(Quotes. First is me, paraphrasing from 'Bette Davis Eyes'. The next two are from The Fire Sword, great book. The last is from Ruroni Kenshin.)

A brain twist for all you anime fans.
Aug. 1st, 2006 12:19 pmThose of you who have seen Slayers might get a kick out of this.
Take Lina and Gourry, k?
Lina: Strip her of all her magic, cut her hair, make her about 6 inches and 3 cup sizes bigger, keep her personality but increase her tendency to scream and babble and lower her IQ about, oh, 10 points. Increase her obsessive nature by the IQ difference.
Gourry: Make him a vampire, with an actual brain and backbone, all the goody vampiric powers plus two elemental servant-children, fire and ice, boy and girl, respectively. Give him the same protective instincts and combine them with a blood-bond, so that in order to access all his snifty powers, he has to drink from Lina.
Give the elementals Zelgadis' personality.
Drop the whole kit and kaboodle on Earth, 1920s, throw in strange pyramids, another vampire, something called Star Lords and what do you get?
wait for it...
Master of Mosquiton.

Pizza good!
*chomps down on lunch*
Wolf's Rain is continuing to tug relentlessly on my heart strings. It REALLY doesn't help that Wolf is snickering over Toboe licking Tsume's wounds and predicting boy wolf on boy wolf action later on.
*twitch*
It's standard procedure to lick your packmate's wounds!! That's a bonding/grooming behavior, nothing more.
Yes, I'm protesting a possible yaoi pairing. Why? Because it's not obvious. If the pairing isn't written into the story, I want no part of it. AlucardxIntegral has been admitted by the author, so that doesn't count.
Now, Descendants of Darkness, that's obvious. *nodnodnod*

Oh yeah, and Superman Returns was pretty good. Had to completely re-wire some conceptions of mine to make it all make sense, but that's ok.

May. 17th, 2006 07:43 amNonsense seems to be infecting my neighborhood. First that wonky dream where a bunch of college guys were trying to summon a Mayan god of random silliness by sitting around a retangular brown fur rug and having a massive nonsense contest. Kyther was there, chin resting on his fists with that little smirk he gets saying "This is silly.", to which everyone else in the group chorused "Exactly!" Then they packed up the rug, thinking it didn't work, but as they left I saw that Mayan god, who called himself Textococtyl and asked where his followers went. I pointed him in the right direction, knowing that when the god caught up with the guys, the nonsense would be like giving Wonderland LSD.
Yes, you read that correctly. Giving WONDERLAND LSD.
Then I get on LJ and find Evan has posted excerpts FROM MY DREAM!!! Kyther's already responded and his comment is right in line with the role he was playing in the nonsense contest.
Darkness will cover Denver, and from this cloud will spew such randomness, Discordia herself will be shaking her head.
In other news, my hentai nature has made itself known in a new way. I was toying with a Kenshin/Kaoru scene and suddenly had a brilliant idea.
See, some fanfic writers like to make Kenshin a demon, no doubt harkening back to his Battousai days when he was called a demon. But, they usually make him working for the government and policing his own kind.
Well, says I, wouldn't it be more fun if Kenshin was a different kind of demon? Still sexy as hell, but with tendrils of energy that come out of his back and curve gracefully like a full missile battery launch from a Gundam and do unspeakable things to a sleeping Kaoru, who's convinced this is all just a really, really good wet dream?
Yes, I think Kenshin would make a fine incubus. An incubus with tentacles. Think of the double meaning his name takes then! 'Heart of Sword' indeed.
Man, if I could draw, I would SO draw that. Not the molesting Kaoru part, but Kenshin in full "I'm about to take you" mode.
*thinks about that*
Bloody no hentai otaku.
*drinks her ban cha*
