I soooo love his voice and am tickled down to my little fangirl toes the same actor has been doing it since the 80s. The world will be a sadder place when he dies.

If we decided Monday nights, say from 8 pm to 11 pm, and we used Skype, would you agree to testing a module? I can DM as well as play a character, I've got a 4th edition summoner I'm DYING to try out. It would be first level stuff, unless you have a meatier character? (heheheheh)

in that SM therapy. All I do know is that Sarah will be seeing Makoto off for her training in the mountains (Episode 106) and she will sing "Rooftops" by Lost Prophets to an audience of Senshi; Inners or Outers or both still TBD.

Another temp contract starts Monday. As today and tomorrow are my last free days for about two months, I have spent them Getting Stuff Done liberally interspersed with Harvest Moon AP.

I prefer TA-DA lists myself.

What I've Accomplished:

Chosen paint for kitchen cabinets, (the lighter of the two grays as I was looking for "ash". Fire kitchen and all that.)
Chosen paint for Cuteness' room, with her approval.
Re-mounted the stair rail bracket (still a little loose on the rail, but solid to the wall. I AM DONE WITH THIS)
Cleaned out under my kitchen sink.
Put unwanted containers and lids in recycling.
Cleaned the downstairs shower (very half-heartedly, but it IS cleaner!)

Where I am in the game:
In Which I Accept the Fact That I am a Bit of a Pervert )

And it's a pretty sad state of affairs when I find myself ogling Wizard's hips or admiring Jin's ponytail. Is masturbating over video game characters as geeky as masturbating over anime characters? I'm just wondering...

You have gained 50 Experience points!

You have learned new skill! Synch Wii remotes.

Now I'm no longer forced to watch broadcast television! Huzzah!

Although "My Cat from Hell" and "Tanked" are interesting shows.

I'm going to continue this new morning routine of meditation-yoga-makeup-jewelry for as long as I can (meaning I lose interest or another temp shift starts, whichever comes first). I'm liking how I'm feeling and what I see in the mirror.

Spent a lovely day with Sammi today. We colored in the mandala book I found at B&N, had a wonderful stuffed pepper soup (a way to eat green peppers that doesn't make me go SQUICK!) and chocolate chip bread, and we discussed many and sundry things while she tried to patch some wall paper. I left when she started yawning. She's earned naps!

Since there was only about an hour before I needed to pick up the kiddos, I decided to play in Michael's and see what I could see. I found blue candles for the Buddha at half off, a bottle of lilac diffuser oil for my bedroom and I STILL cannot find adult coloring books in the craft stores!! (Adult meaning mandalas and botany catalogues and architecture like Victorian houses. Perverts!) I did find watercolor pencils on sale, as well as drawing pads, and stood there looking at them and arguing with myself.

"You won't know unless you try!" I said out loud and grabbed a 24 pack of pencils w/brush and a small note pad. The idea is to ease myself into watercolors without reading any instruction books on the matter. Pencils are easier to control then thin paint and I can sketch and color at the same time. Worst case scenario is I do a few drawings, decide I hate it and give the supplies to whichever kiddo wants to try. Or other family members. Or friends.

I'm also working on the Cross Stitch O'Doom. I managed to do a complete section in the wrong color because I misread the cards. CSOD is Dooooooooommmmmmmyyyy!!!! I've decided Not To Care, as it is not noticeable to anyone else looking at it.

All of a sudden it's 11 pm. How did that happen? I'm going to bed.
bloodsong1: (Honestly!)
Make a graphic novel with a well recognized manga artist, of course! It is only by the power of Shouju that I can believe a vampire will SPARKLE because that ALWAYS HAPPENS in Shouju manga! All the bishis sparkle! It's one of their secret powers!

I have been cheerfully snickering at the EXPLOSION of supernatural romance fiction in the last 10 years. I'm pretty sure Anne Rice is to blame. Now even Sam's Club's book section has whole shelves devoted to young adult and romantic fiction with angsty vampires, werewolves with hearts of gold, teenage Super Witches and "misunderstood" fallen angels.

And while the Japanese have an accepted (if somewhat creepy) tradition of giving 15 year old girls Super Magical Powers (I'm looking at YOU, Usagi!) because high school is not REQUIRED in Japan, only highly encouraged (ditto for college), at 15 you can pretty much choose your life path.

Not so much here in the US, and let me just say that 16 and 17 year old girls do not have the maturity or emotional capacity for dealing with Super Powers Thrust Upon Them. Ditto for the guys, (I'm looking at YOU, Parker! I love you dearly, but let's face it. You were one angsty teen.)

(X-Men are exempt from this because Professor X did the RIGHT thing and set up a school to TEACH "Power 101". Those who did not graduate fall into the above mentioned category.)

As much as I wanted to fly and shoot laser beams and have a talking animal guide, at 16 or 17 I would have been an AWFUL super heroine. Phenomenal cosmic powers don't pay bills, and I would've hightailed it out of my mother's house faster then you can say "Shazam".

I certainly don't have the energy or obsessive nature of Misao.

Shut up.

This oddball opener is to address conflicting feelings. It all started when I felt the need to DO SOMETHING with my hands, so I dug up the Cross Stitch bag and decided to actually, y'know, FINISH one of these projects.

I did.

I even went to the bother, the BOTHER, of getting a frame for it. Considering it took me about two hours to finish the accenting, it's really sad that it sat in the bag for 3-4 years. Then I remind myself that two of those years were in storage, so I shouldn't feel too bad about it. The piece was the "Good Fortune" kanji, all done up in red and black and gold and brown on a tan background. It will look quite nice in our bedroom, once I figure out a place to hang it.

The nearly finished wizard and the half finished anniversary sampler will remain undone, as touching those projects leave me with a very uncomfortable feeling. It's not often I get a "This is WRONG" reaction, especially to something I've worked on in the past, but I've learned to listen to that reaction.

So! The only cross-stitch projects left are a pair of leaping dolphins (more challenging as the fabric is black) and a newborn sampler, both still in their packaging.

I spent some time looking at these two projects and wondering why I felt the need to take up cross stitch again. It's a very genteel pasttime, almost, but not quite, exactly unlike learning battou-jitsu. (FYI, the practice sword's been ordered, Wolf and I have agreed to share, as he rightfully doesn't trust me around live steel)

The problem that I'm having is that once a cross stitch project is finished, it demands framing and a location. I don't have that many open walls in my house and really, am I the kind of woman who fills her house with cross stitch? Even appropriately geeky and/or pagan cross stitch?

I think this is boiling down to my girly, housewifely side coming to odds with my geeky, practical side. I haven't stopped my work-week exercising and it IS making the workday more enjoyable, always a plus. And there's really nothing wrong with doing cross stitch in the evenings, I could look at it as a meditative exercise. Anything to dispel the girly image. I'm ridiculous.

I've started the dolphin project. It reminds me of the opening sequence to the Hitchhiker's movie. When it is done I shall frame it in silver and...and...and figure out something. Maybe a gift?

and very small utility bills.

Wolf got his cigars.

I got my Soot Sprite Keychain and my Magatama phone strap in jade.

I thought long and hard about the Totoro yellow bento box with chopsticks.

Almost had it justified.

Then realized the three things together (hah! Alliteration!) would be over $30.00 before shipping.

Wolf's cigars were only $20.

So I stuck to my charms and paid $.60 more for 7-10 day shipping.

Still need to replace the hardcover Goblet of Fire book I accidentally water-damaged. o_O There's another $30.

And sooner or later, school supplies must be bought. Backpack, some folders and crayons and lunch box have been obtained.

Bloody school's in renovations, nobody's available in the office until 8/8.

School starts 8/15.

I can't find the kiddo's report card. ANYWHERE. So I have no IDEA who his first grade teacher is, plus they need updated home info, as we've moved and all that.

Yeesh.

School was easier when I was in it, not supervising someone else.

At least ex-MIL is willing to help out with supplies.

Soot Sprite!

VENOM! VENOM! VENOM! VENOM! VENOM! VENOM! VENOM! VENOM! VENOM! VENOM! VENOM! VENOM! VENOM! VENOM! VENOM! VENOM!

I nearly crushed Wolf's hand and actually stopped breathing during my geek-out in the the theater.

Oh yeah, and Superman Returns was pretty good. Had to completely re-wire some conceptions of mine to make it all make sense, but that's ok.

VENOM! VENOM! VENOM! VENOM! VENOM! VENOM! VENOM! VENOM! VENOM! VENOM! VENOM! VENOM! VENOM! VENOM! VENOM! VENOM!

Wow, haven't been bitten that hard by a plot bunny since....Nano. I wonder what that word count is.

In other news, had an excellent weekend. Friday night was the company summer event, baseball! I finally sat through an entire game. ^_^ Rockies versus Rangers, Rockies gave up a 3 run lead in the sixth while the crowd was working on the wave to lose 8-6. Meh. Wolf joked it was the gay guys fault, who came and sat directly behind us during hte 6th inning to whip up the crowd. Frankly, that was the most enjoyable time of the entire game in my eyes. My little family took the bus to save on parking expenses, which resulted in peanuts and lemonade at the game. Getting home was its own adventure, as the limited we rode out on shut down at 9 and we left the ball park after ten. Spent a half hour waiting in a bad part of town for our connection watching two cop cars at work. It was a warm night, so we were comfortable and the kiddo slept the entire trip. And we all got nice green Rockies baseball hats.

Yes, the Rockies colors are purple and gray.

Our hats are green.

Shut up. They were free and were worth more then the tickets.

Got home well after midnight and collapsed in bed. Woke up by the phone ringing, MOL wanting to know about the weekend. Confessed serious lack of fundage and she agreed to pick up shoes and some school clothes for the kiddo next weekend. Then I found out it was after 11 am. Spent the rest of the day cleaning house and waiting for Kyther, who showed up about 6 with Azumanga Daioh.

I STILL have the theme song stuck in my head.

Azumanga Diaoh. Cromartie High for 12 year old girls. And whatever you do, don't mention Sakaki-san to Wolf. He's rather upset about how she's being treated. We went to bed earlier, around 11.

Sunday was Lego Star Wars, Katamari and more Azumanga Diaoh until late afternoon. We all went out to get snacks for the evening, Kyther treated. ^_^ He's such a nice bear. Kyther and I made dinner and Evan showed up. The evening was spent with Shopping Hero, Denshin Otoku, and just a hint of Azumanga, along with mochi, Pocky and very good company, which by then included Amby. Evan insisted on silly pictures before he left with Kyther, Wolf and myself. We did one basic group, one of me being held by all the guys and one dancing. Can't wait to see prints. Yes, Evan does not have a digital camera. How very analog of him.

I'm going to walk home tonight, see how long it takes me. With money as seriously tight as it is, I might not be able to afford the bus pass for July. However, I think riding in the morning and walking in the afternoon will result in effective savings.

Ja ne!

Unexpected, this development is.

In other news, I have a new love. Lego Star Wars. OH MY GODS, THE CUTENESS!! THE CO-OP PLAY!! I CAN PLAY R2-D2 AND FLY!!!!! Ok, so I just hover as R2, but it's R2! Sooooo cute!

I'm sending Kingdom Hearts back. I wouldn't mind buying it someday, when it's less then $15, but right now, I'm getting tons more fun out of LSW. Playing with Wolf is both fun and slightly frustrating, but he kept me going through the pod race level when I was ready to say "Hell with it!" We spent two hours last night happily running around Naboo saving the day. Even though the platforming killed me many times, I was having so much fun I didn't mind. Now THAT'S a good game.

SO a keeper.

Linen closet - packed
Bookcase - halfway packed
Loveseat - GONE! *beams*
Kiddo's closet - purged, lots o' empty boxes in there...
Clean, clean, clean and laundry, laundry, laundry - HAH! Doin' that today.

Also!
Packed up all of our hanging clothes in one big wardrobe box. I love that box. It's so nifty.
Packed up my red tea set.
Purged my hope chest, it is now empty and much easier to lift. Kept about, um, half of what was in there, even my high school yearbooks. Which is a laugh, really. Wolf asked if I was trying to look like Harry Potter my freshman year. >_< But, I just can't toss them.
Space-bagged three drawers worth of my clothes, plus my wedding dress, Wolf's wedding robe and all our spare linens. Should still have enough pillows and blankets for wrapping up the television and computer monitor.
Ran the dishwasher.

Still need to:

Pack up good dishes.
Drop off ARC donations.
Go to American Furniture Warehouse and finalize our shiny new furniture purchase.
Grocery shopping? We need bread and cotton balls and witch hazel.
Clean and laundry, or at least tidy up and run a few loads. I have a gut feeling it's not all getting done today.

Now if my body would just decide if it wants to bleed or not, I'll be happy.

In other news, KH is still running on "meh" with me. I'm really enjoying the fighting engine and the camera isn't nearly as bothersome now that I know what to do. But really. Having to go back to Traverse Town EVERY FRICKING TIME I need potions is REALLY annoying. Especially since I keep forgetting my little gummi ship has GUNS and I need to USE THEM! *sigh*

They will ALWAYS come back to haunt you.

Yes, I know all my friends know this. So do I.

Still, having a previous mistake come up and slap me in the face last night and scream "SEE WHAT YOU DID?? NOW FIX IT!!" and not really knowing HOW to fix it, just tell the unvarnished truth, which I did and it seems to have worked...

*sigh*

I was so upset last night I hardly ate anything. Played KH and snacked on salt water taffy. Made some progress in KH, only to have my tiny hiney handed to me in the Wonderland boss battle. At least I won the court case! ^^;; And I'm getting the hang of the camera. Mostly.

I have another complaint about KH. Now, granted, I'm used to FF. But still! Having to fly back through the obstacle course EVERY time you need to restock potion supplies because killing monsters does NOT pay enough to allow you to stock up AND there's no handy shop in the world you're on? This SUCKS!!

And there's still platforming. Way too much platforming!

Rented Kingdom Hearts through Gamefly.

Spent about 2-3 hours playing last night.

Then dreamed in Kingdom Hearts for most of my sleep cycles.

Needless to say, it's a compelling story. Difficult making the transition from FF turn based to KH real time fighting, but I'm getting the hang of it. Two complaints so far.

Camera angles. Took Wolf and I about an hour and a half to realize the L2 & R2 buttons change the camera angle. Easy to forget when you're running away from shadows to find the shadow master.

Platforming. HATEHATEHATEHATEHATE!!! I despise platforming. It's not a pure platformer, for which I am incredibly grateful. That being said, Wolf took over the major platforming sections when he saw how much trouble I was having. We traded off a couple of times and neither one of us lost interest.

I really liked how it started, when you got a bunch of choices and were asked a lot of questions. I'm playing right now as the mystic, gave up the warrior (we'll see how much that comes back to eat me alive), put emphasis on friendship and learning new things while being afraid of indecision.

Needless to say, I can see myself becoming a die-hard KH fan if the story keeps its depth. And provided there's less platforming.

Words cannot express how much I hate platforming.

*hisses*

Watched "Sky High" last night.

Positives: Better acting, plot and writing then "Thunderbirds". Very cool music, even if it was ALL covers of 80s songs. TMBG are my heroes, especially when they cover "Through Being Cool".

Negatives: Still a predictable teenage angst story.

For a GOOD teenage angst story, watch "10 Things I Hate About You". "The Taming of the Shrew" goes modern. Great stuff. Looking forward to the "Twelfth Night" high school remake coming out sometime this year. I love "Twelfth Night", but haven't seen it performed yet. Cross dressing chicks and the men and women who love them. Fun, fun, fun!

Ack! Time!

"Ok, roll up those little raggedy ones first, then move on to the puffier ones over there and then I can move on to those dark ones."
