We walked back into the convention center, chatting. Kev was holding my hand and I caught myself starting to lean on his arm. Boy, when Aphie's goddess hits someone, She doesn't kid around!

"SOOOOOOOONNNNNGGGG!!" I looked around in time to be yanked behind Kev and hear a solid "thwump" of overeager badger-man meeting linebacker. I quickly stepped around and found Flesh on his rear, rubbing his head.

"Foiled again." Flesh grumbled.

"And I'll continue to." Kev folded his arms and glared at the teenager.

"At least I didn't break my muzzle." Flesh got to his feet and gave me a sullen look. "Nick wanted me to remind you about karaoke."

"Very well." I linked my arm around Kev's. Flesh glanced between us.

'I'll come with you."

"No, Flesh." Both men looked at me, surprised by my tone. "I'll be along presently. Why don't you go tell Alucard we're back?" Flesh sighed and turned away.

"We're going to lose her." Flesh muttered as he walked away. I frowned. He would have to be watched.

"Kid's got a crush on you." I looked at Kev, also frowning after Flesh. He glanced at me in a classic Bon head tilt. "Should I be worried?"

"No. Ken's more like the little brother I continue to look after." I tossed my hair. Kev grinned.

"Good." He grabbed my hand and we strolled to the bar. The karaoke machine was already in use by a rather wasted-looking Vash, belting out "Friends in Low Places". I spotted Nick sitting at a corner table, with his feet on it. Doc, Flesh and Janny were arranged around him. Nick flicked his hat brim. I led Kev over to the group.

"Good evening, minna. Mind if Kev joins us?" I asked politely, sliding in next to Nick. I slapped his legs until he took his feet down. Doc and Janny shook their heads, Flesh sulked. I introduced Kev to Janny, then turned to Nick.

"Did you sign me up too?"

"Yes."

"What song?"

"You'll see." Nick grinned wickedly. I pulled up his hat brim and glared into his face.

"Tell me or you go back on processed food." Nick pulled his glasses down and mouthed a song. "Traitor."

"It's not treachery when it's for my lady's own good." Nick sat up, folded his hands and rested his chin on them. "Besides, I think it will leave a good impression."

"Remind me never to let you near a karaoke machine without me again." Kev signed up, then signaled one of the waitresses.

"Drinks are on me. Soda for the teens." Doc pouted, Janny laughed. I chuckled under my breath. This was turning out to be the most interesting evening I've had.
