So it's the Air Force Grad day. So the Prez's here. So...fricking...what? No, I don't care. I have yet to see a President I actually hold in esteem.

You know, if someone without American's interest in mind wanted to make a statement, now would be a REALLY good time. Heartland of USA, military bases all over the place and the Prez right there. Might not take him out, but you could deal a huge morale blow. Ironically enough, I'm well within range. The stadium's only about 20-30 miles northwest of my office. We've got a fabulous view. Heh.

Nope. I knew when the Prez announced he was committing us to a "War on Terror" we were fucked. Afghanistan had to be dealt with. I understand that. That was the best target. After that, Saudi Arabia. Lebanon. Syria. Jordan. Yemen. Those are the ones funding and breeding the terrorists. They're the ones sending troops to Iraq to harass us because they have 30+ years of US foreign policy backing them up. When it gets too hot, the US turns tail. Sometimes it takes months, sometimes it takes ten years. Sooner or later, the US will run away. All you need is patience and a lot of men. We know the network has both.

I have little hope for Iraq. Either it'll be a puppet government that gets overthrown by legal elections in a year, or it'll start out the way the Iraqis want. Let them have a theocracy. It's not always a bad thing. Yes, they're sexually repressed. You can't force change, the people have to WANT it. They don't. Leave them alone. They'll either evolve or stagnate. Not our problem.

This rant has been brought to you by F.R.S. We'll take you for a ride, every month.

First Date.

The Fine Arts Museum has a whole wing dedicated to the Japanese artwork. Hot damn. We get our programs and head over. Rice paper hangings nearly cover the walls, all with calligraphy and many with artwork. The various pottery displays are scattered around the room, on the floor and on pedestals. I turn left.

"Calligraphy first?"

"I'm taking Japanese this semester. I want to see if I recognize anything."

"Keep it up and you'll turn into the perfect woman. Then what am I supposed to do?" I grin, admiring a cherry tree that covers half the scroll. Three rows of calligraphy fill the remainder, the writing just big enough to read from a distance.

"Look for the catch."

"Beg pardon?"

"There's no such thing as perfect. I'm sure I have flaws you will find annoying at best." I move on to the next scroll. Rae walks towards the corner, stopping about two scrolls down.

"So far I'm coming up empty."

"We've shared a dance, sushi and now an art exhibit. That's not nearly enough time to dig for flaws." I point out, walking over. He looks down when I stop next to him.

"Does that mean we'll have the time together?"
