For Every Season
Mar. 20th, 2005 09:22 pmThere is such a thing as poetic justice.
Mom was supposed to take the kiddo today for three days so Wolf and I could have some quality adult time. We were going to go dancing at this nifty-sounding club, MercuryClub.
No such luck.
I get a call last night, about 530, from my dad. "Bathroom's still in massive disrepair, we can't take him."
BUH??????
No one said ANYTHING about a malfunctioning bathroom. WTF? Dad claimed they were planning and hoping to get it done before Saturday, but his schedule wouldn't allow it. Five times, he said that.
Swallowing my disappointment and slowly growing anger, I call the other grandmother and inform her of the change. We agree to have the kiddo dropped off after lunch.
This morning, I woke up early and acknowledged how angry I was. What really sucked was I had this feeling THURSDAY that my lovely plans were going to go up in smoke. I hate being right.
I decided that instead of spending 40-60 bucks on dinner and dancing, I would spend it on things I wanted. My girly wish list. So, Wolf and I left after our son was picked up, went out to breakfast, then headed over to Cherry Creek Mall. This is one of the priciest malls in town. There's a fricking Neiman Marcus in there! I also counted no less then three Italian designer name stores, a cashmere shop and an Apple store. Thankfully, there was a Yankee Candle store inside and they were on their last day of a votive sale. I scored 18 candles for just over 19. *beams* All in my favorite scents too. Met Wolf back at the EB store and we picked up two games; GTA3 and Gran Tursimo 3, both pre-played. Checked out Talbots petites and groaned at the lack of bright color. All they had were pastels and over half of those were green. *shudder*
We headed over to Walmart after this, where I picked up some much needed hosiery. Wolf headed for electronics while I danced off to cosmetics. Picked up a full spread; foundation, two eye shadow trios, a lipstick, a blush and a bottle of moisturizer w/SPF. *beams* I love Cover Girl.
By now it's time to pick up the kiddo. After we have him, we head over to Skipper's and hang out for a while. Skip and Wolf test out GT3 and complain that it's not as good as Need for Speed 2 in multiplayer mode. Wolf doesn't care too much, he's more interested in the customization allowed in sim mode.
Finally, we decide to go out for dinner. Olive Garden. I indulged in a cocktail and am currently pleasantly relaxed. Got a little dizzy during dinner.
There was one kicker. While waiting for Skipper to come home, my mom calls. Just to inform me she's very disappointed in not getting the kiddo this week. I manage not to be rude and point out she's not the only one and it's her fault anyway. Silly woman. She'll be damned lucky to see the kiddo before her little 2+ month jaunt to OK.
So what could have been a very bad day turned out quite well. Wolf was wonderful and we didn't burn ourselves to the ground. Tomorrow, it's back to the grind of reception work and paying bills.
I wonder if anyone's going to do anything on Wednesday?
