Luxury Day
Aug. 4th, 2005 12:18 pmA luxury day is one where you take a day off in the middle of the work week, accomplish everything you need to in the first two hours after rising and have the rest of the day to yourself.
Where you can dawdle around a local mall and come to terms with the fact that yes, you are older then you think, but only as old as you feel. To go ahead and spend 7 bucks on a new paperback because the writing style closely resembles your own and the subject matter tickles your fancy and besides, do you REALLY want to know what another woman used YOUR short story titles for?
It's walking into a jeweler that bought out the company you bought your wedding set from, having your set cleaned and looking all sparkly and finding a gorgeous pair of earrings that will hold marquis cut diamonds and swoop up your ear like a pair of fairy wings. It's strolling through Vicky's and finding cute lounging clothes that aren't pink or over $60 for the set.
It's walking home in the rain, telling yourself it's for the best to put off the school supply shopping until the family can do it, because after all, you're only in kindergarten once and the kiddo deserves it to be a family time, as does Wolf. It's putting down your umbrella a block from home just to feel the rain and rejoice in it and the knowledge you can take a hot shower in a few minutes.
It's taking that hot shower, feeling all feminine and witchy and using rose-scented gel that really does smell like a fresh-cut rose.
It's grilled turkey and provolone sandwiches, a thick cookie with three different kinds of chunky sweetness in it, candles burning on the mantlepiece and good music in the computer.
It's knowing it's ok to do this, at least once in a while, just because you need the time for you.
It's curling up on your new/old sectional with a blanket and your new book and a cup of tea while the rain falls outside your apartment windows. It's the satisfaction of a job well done and the rewards that will come.
