Wolf got home from Baltimore last night about 1130. I had been having contractions for the last half hour and was getting a little freaked out. Keeping count, as most of them were actually painful, I called the Women's Health Center about midnight and explained the situation. 5 contractions in an hour, plus a feeling of always needing to pee.

"Yeah, that's too many. Come on in." The doc on call says.

So, after spending all day in Baltimore AND driving 4+ hours home, Wolf then drives me to the hospital.

They whisk me upstairs, hook me up to a fetal monitor and do a quick check of BP. I explain my symptoms again and the nurse comes back with a 32 oz glass of ice water.

"Here, drink this so we can get a urine sample." (I had forgotten I needed to hold it. ^_^;;)

So I chug about half the glass, and ten minutes later they have their sample.

Nurse comes back, takes and processes the sample, then comes again with a shot of anti-contraction medicine.

"This will go faster then if you take a pill." She explains, sticking me in the arm.

An undetermined amount of time later, she again returns and informs me to finish that water or else I'll get an IV.

I focus on drinking the water, while Wolf reminds me that my fluid intake is about half what it should be and it's all been fruit juice, not water.

>_<

Finally, three hours and cat naps by both Wolf and myself later, the nurse comes back, taps me awake and informs me I'm clear to leave. It was probably dehydration, get more rest and for gods sake, drink more water!

We get home about a quarter till five.

Don't get to bed until almost six.

Needless to say, Wolf didn't go into work today. He was too exhausted. Together we probably didn't get more then 6 hours of sleep between 1130 last night and noon today, on top of a full day prior.

I'm still having the stronger contractions, plus I developed spotting about 530 am today. It hasn't stopped completely, seems to come in drips over the course of about six hours. On the positive side, I've downed 3 glasses of water, 8-10 oz each, on top of 8 oz of fortified milk and 2 8-10 oz of juice. This is consistent with my fluid intake from yesterday, except it was all juice and no milk.

Here's hoping the water continues to help. I have an appointment tomorrow morning, we'll see what my OBGYN says. I'm two days shy of 30 weeks.
