Wiccaning and Weekends
May. 30th, 2007 02:55 pmHeckuva time, let me tell you!
Went out to rbdarkly's Sunday morning. Last to arrive get the crappy parking spots, but you also get out easier. ^_^ Everyone there was very glad to see us and Becca was constantly gushed over.
The salad I started to make disappeared somewhere and I don't know if the rest of the veggies and herbs got in. Didn't get to eat any either, but that's ok. If the humans didn't eat it, I'm sure the reptiles did.
Becca's ceremony did go well, once the confusion over where everything was got straightened out. I was concerned about the Baby Book of Shadows, no one knew where it was. After much running back and forth by Wolf, it was finally confirmed that everything but the lavender oil I had made was at the site. By then everyone was a little cranky and bug-bitten, so I said skip the oil and pass the bug spray.
I had gotten over my Artemis issue, so we called Artemis and Hermes. Everyone who had written in the BoS read what they wrote, I washed Becca's hands, feet and head while Zahde read a lovely poem and we gave her a drop of mead. By then she was hungry, so I stripped to feed. Zahde had made lovely robes for Wolf and I, but the neckline wasn't wide enough for me to pull down. No one cared about Queenie in her underwear, but the ladies were kind enough to tie my robe around my waist so I wouldn't get eaten. Everyone else went back to the tables, I stayed at the site until Becca was mostly done. I did end up walking back to the main area with her still nursing because the bugs were getting bad. Poor thing got a Mommy milkshake there for a while.
After the Wiccaning, Rb and I went to Seneca's Stone to lay an offering and had a nice chat about previous events. Then Wolf HP'ed for the Maypole. Watching him invoke Pan is always fun, he gets silly and cute and flirty. I didn't dance, preferring to sit with the drummers and clap. That way I could keep an eye on Markl and Becca. Markl sat and watched, clapped along for a while, then got bored and wandered off. Us drummers were almost forgotten during the Cakes and Ale, so I walked over to fetch the goblets. Rb took them from me and I jumped on Wolf's back and tried to bite his neck. My little homage to Pan and all the fun times we've had, both in the Keep and in a few clubs back in CO Springs. Wolf growled and tried to snatch me, but I skipped out of range. ^_^
Markl did pretty good overall. I did have to put him in time out twice, once because of a temper tantrum over "No, you don't need any more soda." and again for playing with the water sprayers after being told three times not to. He came home saying he had been bored, but I watched him play with a second grader for most of the day, so I didn't believe him.
We left after dinner, Wolf and I were both zonked. Drove through a massive thunderstorm, sheets of rain and lots of lightning. Called back to the house to warn them it was coming their way. Procastinator's Beltane is a big camping trip, we were concerned people would get soaked. Got home about 1030 pm and crawled into bed.
Monday was laundry and sleep, yesterday was a funeral and wake for Bro-IL's grandmother. All of his family was at the house. I had stayed behind to help set up the catered food and spent most of the time running around and sharing Becca, who again was quite popular.
On a Mercian note, His Majesty did not receive my emails due to a server that vanished into the Void. I have to use his mundane account. So, yay! He didn't know about the horrible mis-spells. Now I have time to properly phrase a new email. King Alanus I did say he was open to the suggestion.
