How's that moving coming along?

Well, the kitchen is now fully functional. We've even cooked meals and stuff! The stove is no longer clean! And the dishwasher works! HUZZAH FOR DISHWASHER!!!

The Imac is working beautifully and I can sit on my big comfy green couch (I CAN HAS BIG COMFY GREEN COUCH!!! Kyther remembers the big comfy green couch) and watch the news whilst Wolf plays on the Imac.

The living room is, well, sad. The big leather ottoman is just too big for the room. We're not going to give it up, but we need something about half the size with similar storage features, as we have all of 2 closets in the entire bloody house and one's in Indestructo-kiddo's room. Yay. IDK will be getting the big leather ottoman for toy storage (best toy box EVAR!) once we have an appropriate room-sized replacement.

Our bedroom is also very sad. There's suitcases full of clothes sitting around because the dresser and nightstands are full. Our closet is about the size of a coat closet in a CO apartment, so, yeah. My cedar chest is holding our winter coats.

IDK needs a dresser, as The Cuteness got the only other dresser. His clothes are currently piled on the floor. On the other hand, he's got the coolest bed EVAR and it will last him until college. Queenie thinks ahead this way.

The Cuteness' room...bwahahahaha!!! *ahem* Nothing's been done. She's sleeping in her playpen in our room, making a cramped situation that much worse. She's got an awesome grow-as-they-grow bed, still in the box. I expect that will be put together this weekend.

The dining room is also functional, with a LOT of stuff piled around the edges and a partially completed bookcase. I expect the bookcase will be finished tomorrow or during the weekend, then we can put all those boxes of books away and clear out under the dining room table.

A house party/home ritual is slowly being planned in my mind. I'm leaning towards Nov. 1, as Samhein is on a Friday this year and the family's doing Wonderland this year ([profile] cardxiv, this is all YOUR fault!) However, I know at least one friend that can't make that date, so I'm still undecided. There's also the simple fact the house might not be done by then. ^_^

Speaking of parties, those Keepsters that still actually read Queenie's journal may be happy to hear Mercia will be officially recognized as an ally of the Kingdom of Bermania on Oct. 25. Queen Bloodsong and her Earthen entourage (since the Prince Consort is now a vampire and hasn't checked in for visitation times *looks at big comfy green couch, looks to MD, cocks eyebrow* and the rest of the Court is scattered hither and yon) will be visiting Bermania on that date. Here's hoping no one gets all offended, and if they do, well, I'm the Queen, so there. ^_^

You know I love my Keepsters.

Work is work (shop boss is a whiny little bitch, I liked him better when The Boss was gone), kids are kids (Cuteness needs a change, I suspect) and words cannot describe how very happy I am to be out of a relative's pocket and in MY OWN SPACE. My own BED. With all the familiar woodsy scents caused by a cedar chest and wicker furniture and dusty sheets from being used to wrap things in a storage unit for two years. Thank the gods for OTC Zyrtec, let me tell you.

Even the kitties are adapting well. Mist spent about ten minutes tearing around the bedroom scrabbling claws on the wood floor and chasing Goddess knows what. This house isn't haunted, as far as I can tell, but I've started seeing things out of the corner of my eyes. Considering it's over 120 years old, I'm VERY surprised there isn't a resident ghost. Maybe the previous tenants were the anti-spirit types and drove everything into hiding.
