Robes are wonderful things
Oct. 20th, 2008 07:56 pmI haven't had a soft, fuzzy, snuggly tie-style robe since my pink and white one when I was in middle school. That robe is forever defined by my mother "The Pink Tornado", as I was dragged one snowy winter morning around the back yard by a yellow lab puppy that hadn't seen snow before and weighed almost as much as I did while wearing that striped robe and a pair of pink slippers. Ah, the joys of Guide Dog training. (Is it any wonder I can't stand pink?)
Due to the emotional trauma, and the relative rarity of very cold days and nights in CO, I didn't get another soft, fuzzy, snuggly robe. I did insist on a tie-style, and managed to find a very nice red cotton one that was vaguely kimono-ish, appealing to my geeky nature. That robe was retired in 2007 when it was determined it could not stand up to my pregnant tummy nor the sub-40 temperatures that left me freezing.
Last week at Sams, they had a display of warm snuggly pajamas, and soft, fuzzy, snuggly robes, in both zip up and tie-style. Disdaining the zip up, I started rummaging through the tie-styles, looking for something in a sm/med and not pink. I found one in a lovely pale green, somewhere between mint and teal.
"Oh, soft snuggly tie-style robe!" I gush to Wolf, showing him.
"Get it."
"But..."
"In...the...cart." I managed to avoid the "meep!", checked the price, (hey, only about $21!) and tossed the robe into the cart.
"You need something warm like that so you don't freeze on a Saturday morning, you silly woman." Wolf adds as we walk away.
So now I have a warm, soft, snuggly tie-style robe and it's uber comfortable and oh-so-soft and it's PERFECT for the weekend and it's warm and did I mention it's a snuggly robe? Cause it is.
