CT survey says!!

Aside from sinus disease (contracted from about two decades of yearly sinus infections), I have a happy, healthy brain and head.

Huzzah!

The weekend was...

Well, NOT a disaster, but the kitchen sink deciding to give up the ghost and completely pop off a connecting pipe, to the point that trying to wrench off the stripped locking nut resulted in the whole kit-n-kaboodle coming apart, rendered me rather perturbed. I couldn't even run the dishwasher. GRRRRRR.

(FYI, Wolf has a plumber coming tomorrow)

Oddly enough, thoughts of canceling never crossed my mind, so I soldiered on.

Fondue/Hot pot/Shabu-shabu dinners are very fiddly and require much too much prep. Thank the Gods Zahde was there early to help me, otherwise I would have collapsed into tears. I almost did more then once over the course of the evening, as Zahde noticed and tried very hard to help me relax. Bless her. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and K-bird (hey, new nickname! ^_^) was a peach and helped me do a bucket of dishes in anticipation for Sunday about 9:30 Saturday night.

Needless to say, by about 10, I was sooooo ready for bed. Wolf and the kiddos had spent half the evening at the February Family Birthday Party (to be repeated next month for the March babies), so needless to say, he was zonked too. We called it an early night.

Sunday, I wake up to no Wolf and no one knows where he is. Markl announces he saw him go outside and sure enough, the car's gone. Speculation runs rampant, a phone call reveals his cell is in our room. So I boil water for hot drinks and make coffee for Bu, Zahde and myself. Skitten makes herself tea. We wait until Wolf comes back and he takes over breakfast prep. Yay! I re-melt the chocolate fondue for the French Toast. Bu & Skitten had to leave early, Zahde stayed until about 4 pm Sunday. I got the borrowed fondue pot and dishes washed by the heating-water-on-stove, use-shower-to-rinse method and declared I can wait on the rest. It's not like we don't have two full sets of dishes. We do. And it's not THAT big of a mess, I managed to contain it to a few stacks. But I have no ooomph to wash dishes in my narrow downstairs bathroom, no matter how Zen it could be. And it would have to be VERY Zen to prevent a teary fit.

I must announce that the Queenie Dinner Party is on indefinite hiatus. I need a break.

In completely unrelated news, it was rather disturbing to see a zombie and a Mentat on the McNeil/Lehrer News Hour last week. Although once it was realized the zombie was actually a burn victim, I felt a little guilty. But the Mentat was SO a Mentat.
