So about this Kenshin thing.
Jul. 29th, 2009 04:11 pmBesides waiting for Kandy a continent away to get her Sanosoke costume together so we can Photoshop ourselves at whatever con we choose and be all bad ass and stuff...
Wolf is apparently very serious about learning battou-jitsu. Serious enough to invest in hakama and practice swords and he's the one who posed me (I was planning on ripping manga covers ^_^) while giving me detailed instructions during which we discovered a)my sakabatou is about 1-2" too long for me to effectively draw, this could be overcome with practice and b)I need a LOT of practice. He's standing there showing me how to do it and I'm standing there going whokay then. Queenie has wimpy girl wrists, thank you.
So! Full in the realization that typing 65wpm is NOT condusive to strong wrists and arms, I've decided to take some of my down time each day at the office and work on said wrists and arms. I did a little hunting online for weight-free exercises and quickly realized my old cheerleading strength training will work just as well, with some modifications. I also decided to mix it up a little, work on arms and wrists at one point during the day, and the second point work on my legs. Chest and abs, meh. I'll figure something out.
I now have a note propped on my desk stating "Stretch @ 10 am & 3 pm!" to remind me.
As for actual sword practice, well, that's going to have to wait until evenings and/or weekends. I'd like to have Wolf and I out in the back yard working on strokes, but without a sensei to show us correct posture and grip and schtuff, we might have to do this in the living room whilst watching YouTube presentations. We shall see.
Now to see if I actually STICK to this, as I can be notoriously lazy. ^_^
