Johannesburg? Ok, then.

There's a political statement here.

It's the MNU! They have blue blood! (Only Kyther will get this reference. It's sad I was thinking it EVERY SINGLE TIME the corporation was mentioned, about every five minutes.)

An investigation? Betrayal? Oh, you're dead. You're so dead.

24 hour eviction notice on what amounts to a cheap refugee camp? Yeah, I'd call that a whitewash too. Why do I get the feeling this is happening now in Africa? To humans, not ETs? (No, the aliens are not ET. However, the word "prawn" makes me think of food, not sentient, intelligent beings. So I will not use it.)

There! See? You're dead.

This is taking too long. Why aren't you dead yet?

OOOOOOOOOHHHHH. You're not dying. Whokay then.

Ok, see, that was just stupid. Knock the poor guy out first! Idiots.

No, sorry, still no sympathy for you, Mr. Hybrid.

Oh good, maybe some good will come of this mutation. Help the aliens go home, learn some compassion. I haven't forgiven you that popcorn comment about killing alien infants.

Wow, Dr. Manhattan started something with the human explosion bit. Maybe I should keep count. *quickly loses count*

OH DEAR GODS YOU ARE A SELFISH IDIOT!!! GO WITH THEM, DON'T KNOCK OUT THE CAPTAIN WHO CAN ACTUALLY HELP YOU!!!!

There, see? You deserved being shot out of the sky. You don't deserve to be dissected by, well, everyone, but you did deserve to be shot out of the sky.

Wow, that's a smart alien kiddo.

FINALLY!!! Mr. Hybrid is getting the message.

Ok, the merc commander kindof sortof deserved being torn to pieces by the aliens. He was a prick. Wonder if they'll accept Mr. Hybrid, who's just as much of a prick, but did do some intelligent, compassionate things there at the end.

And the answer is yes. It's sweet he's making gifts for his wife.

On the whole, the movie was depressing. The documentary feel of it was clever, and the political undertones were more like screaming overtones, but that's ok. It's a thinking movie, one designed to make you have serious discussion afterward. Like most sci-fi movies, there's a lot of violence and blatant exploitation. Humanity has a long way to go. The sad thing is, I can see this happening to any extra-terrestrial desperate enough to land on Earth. We're still abusing ourselves so much, any "other" cannot expect better treatment.

So, ever since that firework display in my head this past spring, I've been on a generic anti-migraine med. Amytriptoral or something like that. Dr. Monroe had discussed the bigger side effects with me and I was willing to take those risks so I wouldn't be incapacitated at work.

Today, while cleaning up the dining room table, I found a copy of the info page for this medication. The last two side effects listed were weight gain and increased appetite, especially for sweets.

...

I've been craving cake and cookies and other such baked goodies for a good month now. My work breakfasts have been muffins and brownies and scones. I finally put my foot down on myself and bought biscotti today at Sam's in an effort to scale back on the junk food. Biscotti runs 140-150 calories per serving, rather than the 200-300 calories in your average serving of two-bite brownies or mini scones.

I can't tell you how hard it was to walk away from the 5" tall caramel cake.

The cravings hit worst at night. This is exacerbated by the fact that Wolf and I are in agreement about sweets in the house. Namely, no. IDK still sneaks whatever sweets he can for breakfast, and Wolf is well known for his boredom eating and will finish any goodies in about 24 hours. So any treats or sweets have to be kept at work by me, for the sake of everyone. None of this does me any good at 9pm and I want a cookie. Or a brownie. Or SOMETHING sweet and baked. Fruit is nice, but it does not satisfy the craving. Neither does sweet tea or hot chocolate.

Powers. Never thought a medication could cause such powerful cravings. Fortunately, my will is stronger then my stomach, even if it does mean going to bed feeling hungry.
