Not only is it tasty as a spice in dishes, not only is it antibacterial, thus making it the perfect paring for sushi and sashimi, but it's a great nausea remedy.

My periods, even now, tend to twist my digestive system into horrible, painful knots. Yesterday I went home early from work because of the period-induced migraine, with all the nausea and you-fall-down-NOW-ness that is how my migraines manifest, this time with real head pain! I drove myself to the grocery store, bought Haagen Daz Bailey's Irish Creme ice cream, two bars of dark chocolate, a pack of 1" thick frosted sugar cookies, a 3 Musketeers Truffle Crisp bar, drove home, changed into jammies, took a ginger pill, ate two pieces of crystalized ginger, and parked myself on the couch with my goodies.

LJ-land, I did not have any tummy problems ALL NIGHT. Today I took the bag of crystalized ginger with me to work and it kept me steady through a very light breakfast, half the lunch I packed, The Boss' half a sandwich he keeps giving me (rock on) and dinner! Two pieces right before or right after eating and I'm good to go.

I LOVE THIS STUFF!!!

I started taking it for the motion sickness I kept getting when going to Barb's and not driving. I am going to keep crystalized ginger in my purse from now on.

Sure wish Maternal Unit had looked this stuff up 15 years ago. Oh, the suffering I could have avoided!!
