bloodsong1: (Interesting)
Saw the doc this morning, she put me on Imitrex (or however it's spelled) to be taken at first sign of migraine. I was having one in the doctor's office, so, yeah.

Seventy bucks, this costs, and that's generic!

I came home to see how I'm going to respond to it. I'm manfully ignoring the desire to go back to bed. If I'm feeling better in an hour, I'll go to work. If not, I'll wait another hour, take another dose, and proceed accordingly.

This sucks.
bloodsong1: (Honestly!)
I am not amused.

Imitrex really can't do much when you're in a full blown state. It got to the point where I was getting waves of pressure in my temples, not as much pain, and the nausea, vertigo and sensitivities were mostly under control. However, getting on the computer, even to beta test [livejournal.com profile] ursulav new game, brought the pain back.

After discussing the situation with a nurse friend, I called it a day and put in the call to the temp agency. I also asked the doc's office to fax them a note for today so I would be excused. Then I went to bed.

I've been up for about an hour. I'm still able to eat, the pain is back, the vertigo and sensitivities are still present but coming in waves.

SNB is helping me with dinner. I'd rather he do it himself, but I need to test my functionality.

Back to the couch.

The rest of the day was spent on the couch. My stir fry was a huge success, huzzah.

I'm making SNB go out and get brownies because I'm having a serious chocolate chewy craving. Lindt bars are not chewy.

I did some herbal research (why didn't I think of this before!?) and determined I had two of the 4-6 ingredients for soothing nerves and easing headaches. Chamomile and feverfew.

It's a bitter brew, but it seems to have helped more then the drugs. It will need lots of honey.

I'm going in tomorrow. I'll have the Imitrex (sounds like something out of Cowboy Bebop) and I'll take one of my homemade tea bags with the herbal mix and I'll stick to green tea and see how it goes.

My biggest concern was this whole thing was going to brand me as "unreliable". NO ONE said that to me. Kelly Services insisted on getting documentation so I wouldn't have an "unexcused" absence. The supervisor yesterday was trying to help me with her migraine story and solution. I had to remind myself this is the first time a migraine has hit me THIS hard. Since I can't use the coping techniques I used at the old job, I have to find new ones, which I've done. Now all that's left is to test it out.

Wish me luck!
