Oh, D&D 3.5, how I have missed you.

bloodsong1Things worked out for me to join SNB's group tonight for a session. As they are a kind group, I was allowed in at level 13. I went with my lawful good magic user, a catgirl named Amess.
Shut up.
The DM explained the situation I was literally dropped into (thank you clan shaman.) and we managed to avoid encounters in the 3 day desert trip back to the ruins they were exploring.
Now, I'm a lawful good sorceress. SNB is playing a level 14 bard/magic user. No, I don't know how he survived that long, and at chaotic neutral at that. C is a level 14 mongrel multi-class multi-pass lawful evil who's planning to take over Hell. L is a level 14 berserker goliath with a big honking hammer, chaotic neutral. Oh, and did I mention we're all being pursued by the royal battlemages that are slowly turning into tentacle monsters?
Yeah.
Somehow, I managed NOT to get myself killed by my party.
Our first encounter was a group of mummies. We came in both doors, me with the berserker and Bard-boy with Multi-pass. I knocked my door in, made my speech and dove to one side. Multi-pass took out all four mummies in one fell swoop of fire.
DM: Goddamnit all!
The next room had about 8 wraiths. The party decided it would be best NOT to enter, as the last time they encountered wraiths, it ended badly. I concurred with the majority.
The next room had one guy. A Lich. With a gazillion hit points. Everybody else went ahead of me. I ran into the room, made my speech and shot lightning bolt. The Lich shrugged it off.
DM: Oh yay. He shrugged it off.
Me: What the hell?
SNB: Oh, by the way, did I mention my sword is adamantium?
DM: Goddamnit all! Okay, he's dead guys.
Me: Do I get my spell back?
DM: No.
Me: Damn.
The last room had three Lichs, gathered around a table of alchemy equipment. There was some discussion, as Multi-Pass can see through walls, if we should go in or not. We eventually agreed to attack, if only to get the equipment. Berserker busts down the stone door, I leapt through, made my speech and cast Hail Storm. The Lichs shrugged off the cold damage, but I did get bludgeon strikes. Whoot.
Multi-Pass went invisible, Bard-boy started an enhancement song and Berserker got a few hits in. The Lichs moved in and did damage. I barely escaped Paralysis thanks to Bard-boy.
Two turns later, during which I tried to poke a Lich with my spear and missed, I'm paralyzed. Bard-boy is also paralyzed in the same round. Multi-Pass and Berserker take out the three Lichs in about six rounds. They sweep the room, tally the loot and use a recovery potion on me so I can ID the magic stuff they couldn't. Bard-boy is left paralyzed until Multi-Pass came back with a spell scroll from the ever-so-grateful monks at the outpost we started at. We decided to camp in the room.

SNB: I am a bard! I will sing and stab you, all at the same time! Singing and stabbing. All at once.
DM: Here, Bard, use your Knowledge and write this down. *tosses SNB a notepad*
SNB: What a pretty notepad. It is so white. I will rub the notepad and all the words you're saying will magically appear.
DM: Write this down! *chucks pencil at SNB*
SNB: *writing* The monks were very grateful. They gave us platinum.
DM: They did not give you platinum.
SNB: It is in my writing! I wrote it down. We obtained platinum.
DM: It's a monastery. They don't have platinum.
SNB: I said we got platinum. It's in our history. Platinum will be had!
(after first round of battle)
SNB: *writing* Today we killed a group of guys. Platinum was obtained.
DM: *groans*
Me: *writing on hand* Note to self. Have discussion with tribal leader.
(just before last battle)
SNB: Don't worry guys. I'll make sure everyone knows what wondrous deeds we did. I will make people go out and tell everyone.
DM: You're going to compel the monks? After you made the abbot go missing?
SNB: I sent him on a long holy journey!
Me: Is that what you call it?
SNB: Hey! I can lie to anyone and they'll believe it! I'm just that awesome.
Me: *writing on hand* Note to self, disregard most of what Bard-boy says.
Now, this happens once every few months. I will continue to make myself available. I had a lot of fun and I think I held my own. Not as epic a time as Urusla and Kevin have, but still fun.
