Although trying to research this proved...interesting.

"Welcome to Kyoto Station," The recorded female voice announced. Sarah tucked the bracelet she had been working on back into the bag. As the train stopped, Shippo got up and retrieved the suitcases. He passed everyone's out and the foursome disembarked.

"Yeah, it's big," Shippo said, grinning knowingly. Sarah looked around, and up, and up, and up. She could see a glass covered walkway several stories above her and signs that looked like they were for hotels and department stores.

"I'm hungry," Marc announced.

"Me too!" Becca chimed in. Sarah blinked a few times and brought her eyes back down to the surface.

"Anything in particular?" She asked.

"Chicken!" Becca exclaimed. "I love chicken and rice."

"Po?" Shippo tapped his chin as he led them off the platform and into the shiny new labyrinth.

"Well, I heard there's a Kokekokko here. They serve chicken yakitori."

"Grilled on sticks. How does that sound, kiddos?" She asked.

"Yay! Chicken on sticks!" Becca bounced, her Hello Kitty suitcase bouncing with her.

"Sounds good to me!" Marc agreed.

"So where would this yakitori place be?" Sarah asked, looking around and holding Becca's hand firmly.

"It's up there," Shippo pointed at a large block in front of them. The block consisted of several stories and was called "The Cube". "I think it's on the tenth or eleventh floor. Let's go see." The Americans followed the kitsune to the escalators. At the tenth floor, they saw a sign for ramen and a slew of small restaurants. Shippo sniffed a few times.

"Ah, charcoal. That's what we're looking for. This way!" He sang. As they followed his nose, Sarah looked around excitedly. It was like a street food corridor inside a huge building. Shippo stopped in front of a small restaurant. Sarah inhaled the scent of burning charcoal and smiled.

"I do love grilled meat on sticks," She said. They went inside and were seated at a comfortable table.

"I am sorry, but we have no children's menu," The waitress said when she joined them. Sarah shook her head and smiled.

"We'll all share. Do you have milk or juice?"

"We have orange juice."

"Okay, orange juice for the children and I'll have tea."

"I'll have the Kirin," Shippo said, looking over the menu. The waitress smiled and bowed away. Sarah picked up her menu and sighed. "What's wrong, Reiki?"

"I really need to learn hiragana," She sighed, trying to match symbols with pictures. Shippo nodded.

"I'll get you some books. In the meantime, might I recommend the variety course for the kids? That way you guys can get all different kinds of chicken."

"That sounds good," Marc said, putting his menu down and drumming on it with his fingers.

"Let's get two. It sounds good to me as well," Sarah said, setting her menu aside. When the waitress returned with the drinks, Shippo ordered two variety courses and a selection of chicken parts and vegetables skewers for himself. Sarah fiddled with her purse and watched him. He turned back to her and grinned.

"Yes, you can get this," He said, folding his arms on the table. Sarah leaned back and made a face.

"You don't need to sound so patronizing." Hissing and smoke erupted from the kitchen. Everyone sniffed the air and grinned.
