He's still got the shiner, but now he can open his left eye almost fully. He also had a minor reaction to the sticker glue they used for some of the monitors AND his IV, I expect that will clear up faster then the black eye. The area around his eye is now a pale yellow.

He's going to be a rainbow boy for several weeks.

Doc said he could go back to school tomorrow, all the grandmothers negated that idea. So! Tomorrow he stays home and I get to call the school, tell THEM what happened and get them copies of the discharge instructions so they know he can't play dodgeball or tag for, oh, 4-6 weeks. That's when I need to schedule the followup. I'll be calling Dr. Monroe first, see if she wants to see him sooner. As long as he doesn't have any sudden relapses or complains of eye trouble, we should be clear.

The Door To Nowhere is now barred. ^_^

Oh yes! Aphie! DO NOT send Smarties! The chocolate will melt before the package gets here. I'm sorry to say this, but it happened last time and it's warmer now then it was last year this time.

If you have any Canada-Exclusive non-chocolate candies you think he'll like, send 'em along. If you need an address, let me know. I've been taking packages at work, it's easier and more reliable.

Love you all and thank you again for all your support.
bloodsong1: (Default)
Here's the story.

My SIL Lou has a door to nowhere, which used to be a door to an elevated porch. The porch is no longer there, the sliding glass and screen door are.

Markl admitted to leaning on the screen door, which was closed and locked, and leaned too hard, thus toppling head first 10-12 feet on to a concrete slab.

He has a hell of a shiner on his left eye, and the socket is fractured in several places. However! The fractures are not large or risky enough to warrant surgery of any kind. The CT scans taken last night show no lesions or swelling in the brain itself.

He's scraped up on his left shoulder and knee, but these are superficial.

He's still at Wilson, I came home to clean up and pack an overnight bag. Wolf needs some stress relief too, so I'm waiting for him to finish a race by updating all youse guys.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts, well wishes and overall warm fuzzy support. This could have been a LOT worse, and just goes to show that even pagans have winged beings looking out for them. ^_^
bloodsong1: (Default)
That's nearly a full story fall.

He's on his way to the hospital, I'll be following as soon as Wolf picks me up.

Lovely way to end the day.
bloodsong1: (Interesting)
And no, the irony is NOT lost on me. ^_^

Markl made it through his ear tube surgery just fine. He's in recovery right now, Wolf will take him home once he's been released. I had the surgeon, the sleep-doc and their various nurses calling me because Wolf is not the legal guardian and as such, was not qualified to give permission to do all this stuff. Yay for Tylenol suppositories! o_O

House Drama is, well, dramafied.

We don't qualify for ANYTHING. Credit scores too low. So! We have initiated a letter writing campaign to flood the three credit reporting agencies with challenges. 7 negatives, 3 agencies, 21 letters total. Guess who did that. *raises hand* Yay for Word Letter Wizard!

It'll take 45 days to get this shit OFF our record. We won't know until then if it will boost our score past the qualifier of 575. Fucking banks. If it does, we move on Cleveland. If not, it's get an apartment for a year and wait. Either way, we WILL be out of Mama A's house by the end of summer. I SWEAR THIS!!!

I drove into work today. Mama A criticizes every time I don't slow down soon enough to suit her, but she makes a point of saying that it's HER preference. *chuckle* Aside from minor thigh cramp from the OMGIMDRIVINGALETHALTHING! freaking, I did pretty darn good. I even had The Cuteness with me. I would like to drive into work every day, but Sherzi the Subaru is a whole different animal. Stick shift, gnyah! *claws mouth*
bloodsong1: (Default)
In other words, thank you to everyone who responded to my previous post reassuring me I'm not alone in this.

We all came down on him last night. Kiddo broke down pretty quickly when he found out he was busted, knew immediately what we were talking about. Mama A and I did most of the talking and made sure he repeated the new rules back to us.

New Rule! No stealing
New Rule! No buying food from the cafeteria
New Rule! Make lunch for the rest of the year

He also lost his TV privleges for the rest of the week. I tested him again this morning before I got out of the car at work.

"Ok, Marc! What are the rules?"

"No stealing"

"What else?"

"Listen"

"What else?"

"No buying food"

"Correct!"

Here's hoping this stuck.
bloodsong1: (Sadness)
I found out from Markl's teacher today that he's been eating nothing but snacks at school for, well, most of the month. The breakfasts had stopped two weeks ago, but he's been buying two or three snacks on top of his regular lunch and then just eating the snacks.

Plus! He's been caught trying to steal.

*headdesk*

HOW do you explain to an 8 year old that stealing is wrong? We had the no stealing conversation when he came home with a Family Guy DVD on his birthday. We knew he wasn't given it. Mama A thinks it might have been both him and the youngest cousin, as both were seen carrying around the DVD case, and it isn't hard to see how they might have discussed it amongst themselves and decided Markl should have it.

Then again, if he's been stealing food...

He's NEVER done this before. Makes me wonder who else is stealing from the school.

Well, no more school lunches for him!!
bloodsong1: (Sadness)
The kiddo was caught peeing outside today.

Normally, I would be groaning and reminding him that using an actual bathroom is best.

But it was WHERE he was peeing and WHO caught him that's so troublesome. The upstairs neighbor was the catcher and he was aiming at one of the family bicycle helmets, none of which were his.

I find this out because Upstairs called Bronco, not knowing how to approach the parents of the child, and Bronco called us.

We made him clean out the helmet, now I'm waiting for Bronco and Drya to come home so they can talk to us about it.

The boy is acting out, plain and simple. Eight months now of 9 people living in the same house. No one has their own room or privacy. We're all unhappy about it and there's nothing to be done until we know I have a permanent job. And oh yes, it would be nice if Wolf's company would actually hire him on instead of just extending him. But there's literally no place else for us to go. Mom's house has a contaminated basement, I can't be in there more then an hour before it overwhelms me.
bloodsong1: (Default)
So this morning about 0745 I got up to fix Becca a bottle. The house is empty save for me and my kiddos, as Drya-n-co went to Coopertown for an overnight vacation yesterday and Wolf is already at work.

Markl's watching cartoons.

With his penis hanging out and dancing between his fingers.

*SIGH*

This is the second time in a month I've walked in on a 7 year old masturbator. The first time it was in his room where he had been sent for a time out, which means no TV and no toys. Time out does not mean fun time with the body!

Leaning over the back of the chair, I explained to him simply and clearly that there is a time and place for self-enjoyment. NOT in the living room, kitchen or bathroom. Only in the bedroom and ONLY when you have complete privacy and a good blanket.

I then made him repeat what I said.

"Don't play with your weiner in the living room, kitchen or bathroom."

"Right, and what else?"

"Only in the bedroom."

"And?"

"It's private."

"Right. And?"

"Use a blankie."

"Correct. Remember, you need to be alone. Understand?"

"Yes, Mommy."

"Good. Now, put it back the right way, not all upside down."

He adjusted accordingly, I went and made the bottle and went back to bed to feed Becca.

GAH! CHILDREN!!! Girls are supposed to be easier, right?
bloodsong1: (Lilly)
and the children are bored...because it's been chilly...and they don't have camp...

The good news is it only took me about 8 times to get it through Markl's head that yes, math is important. Why oh WHY don't they use the dot system anymore??? Dot the numbers accordingly, then add up the dots. Simple and it helps the child grasp the fact that when you have 8+9, the answer CAN'T be 9!

*blows nose, winces*

UGH. I have another sinus thingy too. I tried the saline nose wash with Becca's suction bulb and it seemed to help a little for the first three days, but then I stopped, thinking it was done. Lo and behold, it's not. *raps sinuses irritably*

Went and saw Ratatouille (sp? *shrug*) Saturday. It was cute and charming and I had no idea Jeanine Gerafalo (sp? *shrug*) could fake a French accent so well. I now want a Remmy plushie, he's so CUTE! Those sweet little pink paws. Awah! We took Markl to see it because he can't go see...

TRANSFORMERS! ROBOTS IN DISGUISE! *happy 80s dance* All the grownups are going to see it tonight. I intend to spike out my hair 80s style, as we are seeing the FIRST showing. \m/ Too bad I don't have a mechanic's jumpsuit, I would SO wear it. *cackles*

I also created a character for KoTOR. Wolf went out and bought it over the weekend, along with some MUCH needed clothes. He looks very smart in blue.

And finally, I have my first Avon order. *happy money-making dance* That's $20 coming to me sometime soon. Remember, if any of you want to check it out and maybe buys something, my store is here. ) Help support a Queen!

That's it for now. I'll let you all know what I thought of Transformers tomorrow.

Ja!
bloodsong1: (Integra)
before I do something to that boy.

Markl has been having attention issues again, all directed at Wolf. He blatantly ignored the man four times in half an hour yesterday until Wolf raised his voice. I could talk to Markl in a normal voice and he'd listen. We know the boy can hear! And let's not forget that BOTH pairs of glasses have been damaged in the last four days. The light blue pair popped a lens was due to a tag accident, the darker blue pair has the same arm looseness from before, which tells me that he's re-damaged them somehow. Wolf thinks it's because he rips them off his face like Perry White. Yet the light blue pair never suffered the same kind of damage. Those just popped lenses and lost screws. GRAR!!!

I think the not-listening is just another stage of acting out. We know he has an attention and concentration issue, the school has commented on it twice. My suspicion is that he's reacting to Becca in a typical manner. He's not the only one anymore. Add that to the fact he watches his cousins employ the same tactics with their parents with better results and, well, is it really a surprise?

Gods, I want out of this house!! Somebody see me as worthy of hire already!!!
bloodsong1: (Cuteness!)
She is now 9 lbs, 1 oz and 21" long.

Big growing girl!

Sadly, they changed their weight requirements, baby must now be 10 lbs before shots are given. Happily, the well baby visits have been expanded to one month, so we go back in July. She'll probably be pushing 11 lbs by then. ^_^

My interview went well overall. General "Describe a situation when..." questions. They did make me wait over half an hour, but that was because of a meeting that ran long. I have yet to be in an office meeting that didn't, so I let it go.

Markl got sent home from school today for wheezing and an upset tummy. I blame the tummy on him being stubborn and taking too long to get ready for school, thus cutting into his eating time. He's done this before, got up and watched television until after 8 am, then I have to yell him into his clothes and make his lunch myself. He spent the last two days home with a cough. No other symptoms. I'm going to wait and see what goes on with him. His younger cousin had a viral bug last week, I'm guessing it's what Markl has now. Coz had a fever, then a cough, then an ear infection. Gyah. If mine gets an ear infection, I don't know if it's feasible to take him to the doctor. The antibiotics don't clear him out completely and it's not helping his immune system to keep pumping him full of drugs. Meh. Once we have insurance it'll be easier. Everyone cross your fingers for the job!
bloodsong1: (Integra)
Whee! Another userpic! I believe this shall be my ranting one. Not that I rant very often, but you never know when you need to break out the Ice Bitch. ^_^

My doc appointment went quickly. I now have scripts for...Da Dah DAH!!!...Sudafed and Mucinex. You know, stuff that's available OTC.

*bangs head on keyboard*

As the pain is a mere fraction of what it was yesterday, and I'm feeling generally better overall, I'm going to hold off on filling those scripts.

Bro-IL developed kidney stones. He spent the morning in the ER and is now high on Vicoden. Ah, Vicoden. I loved that schtuff. Gave me hallucinations, wooooooo.

Becca has lost her voice, poor thing. Every time she tries to cry she squeaks. No doubt it's because of a sore throat due to sinus drainage. Still no fever and she's eating well. *knocks on wood*

Markl's nearly healed from his infections. Wolf's doing good. Big Bro-IL is graduating from college tonight. I'm not going, someone needs to help preggie neice corral the kiddos. Besides, Becca doesn't need to go out again.

Home with a sick Markl, AGAIN. He caught the cold going around the house, which makes his tonsils look like a sci-fi prop, and a double ear infection. Doc gave us a bagful of samples of Allegra, she's convinced it's his allergies that leads to the infections. *shrug* It's free meds and if it helps, whoo hoo. Zyrtec didn't.

Becca, or Jo-chan as I call her, is doing well. Does tend to break out into a pimply rash over her face and skull randomly, I'm trying to figure out the triggers. Spit up is a factor, if I don't catch it right away (i.e. sound asleep), stimulating her scalp is too. It's very strange, I'll be asking the doc about it Thursday.

Mommy Queenie's doing well, first time in months I can say that with all honesty! Zoloft is my best friend right now. It's keeping me level without suppressing all of my emotions. I have a follow-up on Thursday as well, hopefully the doc will give me another month's worth of script. My Medicaid will be expiring, oh, any day now, and we have to re-certify with PCAP. I've already called the lady asking for an appointment, she hasn't called me back yet.

Wedding anniversary coming up in two weeks. GAH! Two weeks!!! It'll be...*counts on fingers* four years. We'd like to go to Kampai, a local Japanese steakhouse, but I don't think we'll be able to afford it. My six week OB appointment is the fifteenth, I'll find out then when I can go back to work. I almost feel up to it now, but only almost. Zoloft + caffeine = very sick Queenie and I would need some kind of pick-me-up to get through a work day right now. *yawn* Jo-chan's still not sleeping through the night.
bloodsong1: (Lilly)
And he did, for the most part. I'm very proud of my Markl.

Becca's doing well.

I think my period's started.

My boobs ache. Preemie's still asleep, having pounded down 2 oz of formula plus nursing on both sides about three hours ago. Mebbe I'll pump, mebbe I'll wait until she wakes up.

Feeling a bit more normal. Managed to get a load of laundry and a load of dishes done yesterday.

Baby cry!

*runs away*
bloodsong1: (Lilly)
Am currently trying to adapt my sleep schedule to match with hers. Little success so far. She is nursing well, expelling wastes equally well, and is getting lots of cuddles. First doctor's appointment Thursday.

Poor Markl is sick, inflamed tonsils and fever. He's on antibiotics right now, but can't go near his sister for two more days.

I need to make that appointment for myself sometime this week with Johnson City or I'm gonna hve issues with Medicaid. Also need to see if we can get the family switched to regular Medicaid or Family Health Plus, as I'm out of coverage in five weeks. Becca's covered for a year.

GAH!!!!!

*runs around waving hands, collapses on floor unconscious*
bloodsong1: (Default)
Once again, the Tooth Fairy forgot to visit. Kiddo lost an upper tooth yesterday afternoon.

^_^;;

I was more concerned about the 102 fever and making sure he kept himself hydrated. EVERY male in this household is sick with similar viral infections. The females are doing their best NOT to get sick.

Yeesh.

Looks like the Tooth Fairy owes another letter of apology. Cause, you know, she's horrible with directions and forwarding addresses.
bloodsong1: (Default)
Making me sleep all the time and cry easily and...yeah.

Week two over. Wolf had two job interviews this week, one for a company literally five minutes down the road, the other about 25 minutes away. He likes the former shop better and the temp agency was pitching $15/hour.

Yes, that's right. $15/HOUR. For second shift. He really liked the company and the shop's vibe, so everyone, please cross your fingers! We want PB to call back!

I have a WIC appointment tomorrow. This will be good, let me feel like I'm contributing something to the household besides sometimes baby-sitter, couch decoration and additional parental unit. The fatigue that knocks me out every day around 10 am, 2pm and 7 pm is really annoying, I'm actually afraid that I'll be non-functional in a work enviornment. Wolf doesn't think so, as it would BE a work enviornment and that will help me focus. I haven't heard anything back from any of the temp agencies. 'Course, didn't help that I was mis-remembering the temp agencies I worked for back in CO. *BLUSH* Yeah, found that out when the UI benefit people called me regarding my request for an address change. I couldn't verify who I worked for, but I did give a correct alternate name, so the guy said he'd go ahead and make the change. Phew!

Another doc appointment Tuesday, ultrasound the following Tuesday and oh yes, Saturday is Markl's birthday. He'll be 7. He wants a Steelers cake. MIL would be so proud.

That's a good color to describe me right now.

A blue beyond the blues.

But not quite the blacks.

Woke up at 1:15 this morning to find Wolf sitting in the kiddo's room. Turns out said kiddo had gotten up about 1 am to watch a movie. *buries face in hands, sobs*

We spent an hour and 15 in his bedroom, MAKING him explain himself. He knows the rules, he repeated them without prompting and even knew the consequences.

Finally got him to admit he's playing with the electronics because he wants to.

I'm almost out of ideas.

Wolf is talking about getting a motion sensor alarm and booby-trapping the hallway, above the cats' level so they don't set it off, but not so high the kiddo won't trigger it.

I'm all for this idea.

Anyhew, we were both still so depressed over this we treated ourselves to a lovely lunch at a new sushi place.

Then Wolf went out and bought cigars.

>_<

I tried so hard to be good. No, we shouldn't spend any more money. But damn it all, how come he gets his treat on top of lunch?

We compromised.

I now own my very own copy of Spirited Away.

And my Soot Sprite is due any day.

I'm still really upset about the kiddo, but I'm working on it. I've talked it out with a few of my coworkers, both childless but very sympathetic. That helped.

The school situation still isn't resolved either. Wolf spent the morning getting him on the list of five more schools the daycare shuttles to. Hopefully one of them will have an open slot. Worst case scenario is nobody has open spots, we enroll him in Samuels in our district and take them up on their before and after school program. It's not as good as our daycare, but it would cover the time we need. Might have to tweak my work schedule a little to make absolutely sure I can get there before six, but hey. It's a contingency plan.

I need contingency plans. They keep me sane.
bloodsong1: (Sadness)
But the emotional breakdown yesterday was all because of the frustration and tension in the family.

The kiddo will NOT do as he is told.

Grounding didn't work.

Taking toys away didn't work.

He got spanked this morning for playing with the DVD and PS2 when we've told him time and time again not to.

We don't even know if he'll be able to start school tomorrow because of the move and district change. We've done everything we can, now we're just waiting for the school to let us know. THEY might not know until after the 15th. I don't know if his daycare will keep him all day or not.

And to top it off, I got yelled at. It was something small, a little stupid and the end result was not the feared result.

That didn't stop me from crying for a good ten minutes yesterday and even now, I'm fighting the tears at work.

*blinks hard*

Queenie is depressed.

On a different note, it has been confirmed yet again that I have sick and twisted friends that make me choke on my tea.

Oh yes, and the soup I got yelled at for tastes DAMN good. So there.
bloodsong1: (Lilly)
and very small utility bills.

Wolf got his cigars.

I got my Soot Sprite Keychain and my Magatama phone strap in jade.

I thought long and hard about the Totoro yellow bento box with chopsticks.

Almost had it justified.

Then realized the three things together (hah! Alliteration!) would be over $30.00 before shipping.

Wolf's cigars were only $20.

So I stuck to my charms and paid $.60 more for 7-10 day shipping.

Still need to replace the hardcover Goblet of Fire book I accidentally water-damaged. o_O There's another $30.

And sooner or later, school supplies must be bought. Backpack, some folders and crayons and lunch box have been obtained.

Bloody school's in renovations, nobody's available in the office until 8/8.

School starts 8/15.

I can't find the kiddo's report card. ANYWHERE. So I have no IDEA who his first grade teacher is, plus they need updated home info, as we've moved and all that.

Yeesh.

School was easier when I was in it, not supervising someone else.

At least ex-MIL is willing to help out with supplies.

Soot Sprite!
