bloodsong1Ok, quick disclaimer. All quotes and references to Starcraft are made in fandom. Starcraft is owned by Blizzard, a kickass game company. I look forward to them updating their RTS games for the next generation of video cards.
"Ok, Candace. You have recon. Cherie, you're defenses. I'll take infrastructure."
"But I'm faster at infrastructure!"
"Listen to your woman, Rae."
"Right. Cherie, you're infrastructure. Everyone ready?"
"Ready!" They're so cute when they chorus like that!
"Mission starts in five, four, three, two, one, Mark!" And so begins our weekly gaming session. I picked a huge map for this, we'll see how it goes.
"SCV good to go, sir."
"That's yours, Candy."
"Got it!" I drum my fingers on the keyboard of my laptop idly, waiting for Candy's recon to show me the best choke points for defenses. The three of us are ranged around my living room, all with laptops balanced carefully on these wicker trays my mom got me. I must say, they've become extremely useful.
"SCV good to go, sir."
"That's yours, Rae."
"Thanks, love." I take over the unit and set it to building. Team melee is much more fun then attrition in Starcraft, at least for us.
"So, has Candy told you her brilliant costume plans for Halloween?"
"Just finished."
"Choke point!"
"Thanks, Candy." I send the SCV out to her location. "Yes, she has, beautiful."
"And you're ok with it?"
"I think you're going to look stunning." Not to mention sexy as hell, I add to myself, adding marines to my queue. How am I going to keep my hands off her?
"What about you?" I glance up to see Cherie giving me a very suspicious look over her laptop. I flash my best smile at her.
"I promise to sweep you right off your feet."
"Oh really?"
"Resources! Mineral and gas!"
"Acknowledged." I see another SCV trundle off, then blink in surprise. Our main base already has two major buildings and several depots. Wow, she is fast! I check the defenses and start building towers. "Rae, get some more Marines and another SCV to claim that second site."
"Yes, ma'am."
"Don't call me ma'am, I work for a living." We all chuckle. "Sweep me off my feet, hmmm?"
"Oui."
"Uh-oh. He's using French, Sher. You know what that means."
"It means I'm probably going to regret it."
"God, I hope not." I mutter, sending a squad of marines to the secondary resources. The rest stack up in the bunkers.
"Are you at least going to give me a clue?"
"Nope! Ayieee!!! Enemy found me! Oh, my poor SCV! You will be missed! Quick, Sher! I need ghosts!"
"We're not ready for ghosts, Candy. How many..."
"Your forces are under attack."
"enemies on this map, Rae?"
"Three."
"Great. Can't you outrun them, Candy?"
"It's a horde of Zerglings!"
"Lovely." I check the main base. "Tanks, Sher?"
"Need a few more minutes of research. This is going to be a land battle, right?"
"It'll upgrade to air, I'm sure. I'll get some goliaths in the queue."
"Go for it."
