Yeah, I could use some right now. Might have to go for the tea, as we don't have any coffee. *grumble*
PIerce Brosnan makes SUCH a good Bond. *GoldenEye on TV*
Had a bit of an adventure yesterday into today. Came home after 10 last night to find the house hot, hot, hot. Air conditioner had frosted over and stopped running properly. Not sure why, we had it in the recommended specs. So we opened up the house, turned on all the fans and turned off the AC. Did NOT sleep well at all. Hence, the napping earlier today. AC fixed itself overnight, thank the gods. Then we went condo-seeing.
Condos?
Yeah. It's the only thing we can afford to buy in this city. Two bedroom closets in a historical building that screams "Bohemian lifestyle" with few amenities, or mortgage ourselves 3/4ths to the hilt for what we have now. We're both making good money and getting over the hump buying Sherzi put us in.
Wait, Sherzi?
Yes, Sherzi. Nobody commented and only a few people know.
Sherzi is our 2005 Subaru Impreza RS wagon. Subaru blue with AWD, 4-wheel disc brakes, independant suspension and 165 horses. Beats the Saturn down the line on everything, including comfort and cargo capacity. I should have pictures once I badger Skipper into letting us borrow one of his myriad digital cameras.
I was thinking after we left the condo search. Do I really want to live in semi-cramped quarters we own with great character and a fair price but with no w/d hookups and bordering a not-so-safe neighborhood (really close to downtown) or use up nearly all of our extra income for a place that's more in line with what we have now?
There's always Binghamton/Vestal/Ithica. Jobs in Ithica may be easier to come by (it's the home of Cornell, a school Wolf and I were talking about putting me in for microbiology) and we can buy a two story house on a sizable plot of land for around $65K.
You see the dilemma. Staying here guarantees us work in one form or another, but until the housing bubble bursts, we won't be able to afford someplace decent. NY requires a healthy sum of capital saved in advance, the job market isn't as good, but it's a lot more...homey. Better family. Much better food. *grin* Smaller town.
*sigh* And to top it off, my light and fluffy story isn't so light and fluffy anymore. Anyone know any really flashy Italians? Can be fictional or historical, doesn't matter. Just no popes.
