Was up until 3 am this morning. That hasn't happened in...I couldn't tell you how long. We didn't get home from our usual Friday night sci-fi viewing until a quarter to midnight. Wolf wanted to test the wood we had bought for Yule, so I prepped the fireplace while he broke off kindling, then we got it started. Spent two hours sitting on the couch, watching the flames dance and feeling a strong sense of relief.

See, up until now, we'd been using those wax firelogs you can buy at any Wal-Mart. They fit perfectly in our small hearth, but they're like watching a candle burn. Boring. No sparks, no life, as strange as that may sound. I could see a happy Calcifer face in the flames last night, dancing around and caressing the wood lovingly.

Conversation rambled between what we'll do if Wolf's idea sells to me being out of work and hating it, to my writing. Wolf is convinced I should take our flashbacks and knit them into a cohesive story. It would make a hell of a romance novel, especially with the explosion of paranormal romances on the market these last few years.

Eventually, we made our way to bed, continuing the book conversation. I asked him if he'd read it. See, Wolf hasn't read anything I've written over the last year. I can't blame him, after all, it's a genre he has no interest in. As much of a hopeful romantic he is, reading about two people falling in love and getting it on has no appeal. That being said, I'm practically EXPECTED to read and critique all of his stuff, precisely because I have little interest and I can point out areas where laymen might be lost or confused.

He never agreed to read it.

But something else happened. Something so powerful that 18 hours later I'm still tingling from it.

I think I'm pregnant.

Umm...

When, exactly, did that happen?

Because I woke up suddenly and couldn't get back to sleep for a while last night, and I have no logical explanation for it.

Get thee to a drug store and buy yourself a test kit.

Between 2 and 3 am, Mountain Standard time.

Considering the act was last night, I'm going to need a few weeks before I can confirm anything.

Well I suppose it's good that you don't have the issue my mother did with pregnancy, which was a sure-fire indicator of conception:

Extreme morning sickness for the first 24 hours.

I'll hold my "congrats" until you tell me how many blue lines (or pink dots, etc.) there are next week... Just to be sure.

HAPPY!
