It wasn't a rousing success, but it did seem to go fairly well. Late start, as always. We've got:

"Can I just have one more moondance with you, my love? Can I just make some more romance with you, my love?" I sing as I open the door. I luv my Ipod. Looking around, I see the room is tidy. Candy is nowhere, but there's a note on my desk. Still humming to "Moondance", I stroll over and pick it up.

"Sher,
I'm sorry. I went too far. How you dress and who you date is none of my business. If you're happy, it's all good.

Candy."

"We're cool, Candace. We're cool." I drop the note, launch myself onto my bunk and fish my journal out from under my pillow. Bopping to Big Band music, I open in and begin writing. When Candace comes back, we'll talk.

Ok, that's it for First Dance. Anyone wants Word copy, let me know.

First Con.

"My Funny Valentine."

I frown at the red heart taped to my dorm room door. Taking it off, I realize it's a card. Candace opens the door just as I reach for the handle.

"Hey, I was wondering where you were. Come on, we've gotta get packed!" She drags me in and shoves me towards my bunk. My Funny Valentine. I turn the heart over in my hand. No Hallmark logo. This can't be hand-made. The paper's too high quality.

"Yo! Faye Valentine! Wake up!" Something soft hits my head. I turn, slowly. Candace's eyes get wide when she sees what's in my hand. "OOO! Is that from Rae?" She lunges for it. I hold it up out of reach.

"Down, girl. Mine."

"Read it! Read it!"

"Didn't you just say I had to pack?"

"Then I'll read it." She makes a good jump and actually takes the card. I blink at her. When did she learn to jump like that? "Oh, wow! This is so cool. Listen. 'Faye. I know you never expected to hear from me again. Guess I have to let you down. Meet me at your ship, 10am. Spike.' He's already acting in character!"

"Great. I am not driving eight hours in that tight costume. He'll have to wait." Ignoring the shivers trying to crawl down my spine, I head for the closet with my suitcase. Candy gets out of my way, cooing over the card. Good grief. How...silly? Over the top? Sweet? Ok, where did THAT word come from? Because he is, stupid. Oh, right. I ignore the voices arguing in my head and pack. This is going to be a very interesting convention.
