We saw this the Saturday after Christmas, so my thoughts might be a little fuzzy.

Jennifer Connolly is SUCH a good actress.

Best GORT EVAR. From the Centurion eye (yes, I KNOW that was in the original) to the way he performed his directive, he was huge and beautiful.

Keanu Reeves seems to like the understated characters, yes?

Frankly, if this actually happened, in real life, I don't see our government and military behaving ANY differently. All I can hope for is there's another astrobiologist with the eyes and wisdom to make a difference. Cause _I_ won't be tapped. ^_^

Seriously, though, Jennifer Connolly really got to me in this movie. From yelling "That's not fair!" to a Goblin King to consoling a grief-stricken child with "You're right, it's not fair." It's like I saw Sarah all grown up. Although I caught myself mentally snorting at the Operation: Enduring Freedom on the headstones. Yes, I know that's what the initiative was called, but I didn't buy it then and I certainly don't now.

I haven't seen all of the original, but I knew it was about the Cold War and the warning was "Behave or else." This one was purely environmental and the warning is "Clean up your act or else."

And YES. Given the right circumstances, I DO believe the government would mine Central Park.
