Shades of Motherhood
Mar. 31st, 2015 04:56 pmLast night IDK (Indestructo-kiddo) came down with the same stomach bug that hit the Cuteness last week. As he is a Teenager, I explained the Care and Feeding of Upset Tummies and went to work. Someone smelled gas and pulled the fire alarm, so I joined the crowd outside in the cold and called to check on him. He was Not Well, but keeping down water. I told him to eat some rice.
An hour later he called back, Very Much Not Well and could I please come home? I contacted my supervisor, who didn't respond immediately, so I called Mama A and asked her to head over. She had an errand to run, so I told my supervisor I had to leave around 2. 2 pm is better then 10:30 am.
The supervisor got back to me, said "not a problem" and "you're a wonderful mom and project leader".
I am still surprised and wondering about all this praise. My ego is eyeing the flattering words and waiting for the slap. I don't LIKE having to take time off. Yes, I'm on a very flexible project, but still. I'm taking 8 days off in three weeks.
DISNEYWORLD IN THREE WEEKS!!! UNIVERSAL STUDIOS!! SEA WORLD!! WE GOT OUR MAGIC BANDS YOU GUYS OMGS THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING!!!!!

Ahem.
As it stands, I'm going to lose most of that time because I don't have the PTO saved up. It won't hurt the project any, just my bottom line. Which reminds me. I need to pay bills and run numbers. I guess I'll do that now.
