Shades of a Promise

bloodsong1Dr. Takasoma went with me to the airport. First class tickets! I was stunned. He escorted me to the security point. He bowed deeper to me then I've seen him bow to the Drs. Reid. I could hardly hold back the tears. I'm going to miss him so much. He was a wonderful teacher.
Riane is at rest now. I'm glad, she deserves peace. As for Lexx and his love, I wish them both a long and happy life. They will have a tough road to travel together, but if their feelings are as deep as I suspect, they will see it through. They are fortunate to have found each other.
Now I must take my new road. I look forward to it. Journeys are so exciting!
"We are now making our final approach to Narina International Airport. Please lock your seats and trays in an upright position." Windsong closed her notebook and tucked into her backpack. The message from the flight attendant was repeated in English. Song sighed deeply, trying to calm her heart. Kenji.
The plane landed without incident. Song walked into the terminal, her backpack over one shoulder. Looking around, she spotted Kenji several yards away. He was holding a single tiger lily and smiling. She hurried over.
"Kenji." Song fell into his arms, the backpack sliding to the floor, crying despite herself. He held her close, whispering love words in Japanese. Song finally pulled back enough to wipe her eyes.
"I've missed you, Saiai."
"I've missed you too." Kenji used a tissue to catch the last few tears. Song chuckled faintly. "It's good to be back."
"Come, Saiai. We must get your things. We have another plane to catch."
"Where are we going?" Song asked, picking up her backpack. Kenji slung his over his shoulder, took her free hand and guided her to luggage pickup.
"Home to your parents. They are thrilled to hear the news."
"News? What news? It can't be my resignation." Kenji only grinned at her, a mischevious grin. "What are you up to?"
"Later."
