So thanks to our CO friends, we've been sent some pre-production pics of the new ST movie coming out next year.

For those of you who may not know, Paramount in it's *cough*infinite*/cough* wisdom, has decided to make another ST movie. Now this in itself is not a bad idea. I give you the premise:

K/S Starfleet Academy story. (and if there's any of that K/S, I will lose all faith in humanity)

Again, not a bad idea, if done correctly. But this is Paramount we're talking about, and they haven't done Star Trek right since season 4 of Voyager, with the brief, shining exception of season 4 of Enterprise.

Chekov is in it.

All right, Paramount, enough is enough. I realize you weren't directly responsible for Enterprise, that was handled by CBS and we all know what cutthroat bastards CBS can be. But for gods' sakes! MUST you fuck TOS with a barbed table leg? Chekov was an ensign. AN ENSIGN. As in about HALF THE AGE of Kirk and Spock and McCoy and I sincerely DOUBT Uhura was in their class. Scotty, maybe. MAYBE. Uhura and Chekov, not a chance in hell. Kirk was one of the youngest captains, but he wasn't bloody 24! He was 35!!! A good 14 YEARS after he graduated from the Acad emy.

Who gave you the asinine idea that you could screw the timeline with an Inquisition-like fanaticism? TOS is SACRED. TNG is SACRED. Those are the ones Gene was directly responsible for. DS9 and Voyager clung to his ideals, even with the Dread B&B in charge. Enterprise bloody well ignored thirty years of canon to serve their own greedy purposes. How DARE you continue this abomination?

I hope and pray that sometime, someone finds a way to save this franchise and SOON.

I've always felt that Spock was older than Kirk as well. After all, Vulcans are very long-lived.

Technically, yes, but in Vulcan years he was an adult but not middle aged. In other words, he was older chronologically, but developmentally, they were nearly equal.

At least, that's my understanding.

C'mon! It's just like Muppet Babies! Or any of those other "babies" shows! It'll be so kawaii!

Great... now I have the images of an animated "ST:TOS Babies" show in my head... and I just can't stop laughing!

Look, it could be worse; it could have gone the way of Star Wars. At least your sci-fi franchise gets regular treatment. :P

I didn't have as many objections to the prequels. I also heard a rumor that the reason Lucas waited so long was because he was on the outs with his wife and wasn't going to do anymore until she gave up her percentage in the divorce.

But that's just a rumor. At least Star Wars has Clone Wars.
