I can see I must adapt my thinking. Apparently they decided to abandon the Academy story, for which I am INCREDIBLY grateful, because now Chekov and Uhura and Sulu can be on the ship without offending my sensibilities. The early pictures I saw a few months ago did nothing to prove me wrong, the new trailer does. So be it.

All that being said, I still don't trust Paramount not to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory. How they play the Romulans will remain to be seen. And did my eyes deceive me, or were they building the starship ON THE GROUND??? That class couldn't enter the atmosphere! And I suppose one CAN'T tell a Kirk story without him getting it on with someone. Just please, PLEASE, don't let it be Uhura, because that WILL fuck with TOS and then I will have to throw popcorn at the screen and hiss vile things under my breath.

Uhura and Scotty, now, there's a sexy couple.

I know, the ship being built on the ground kind of jars me too. After all, all good trekkies know that they build ships at Utopia Planetia, which is in orbit around Mars.
