"Baby in the Mirror"

Back in January-February time frame, Wolf and I heard on NPR that around age two, children become self aware enough to realize their reflections are THEM and not another small person. The psychiatrists in the report gave a simple test to see if your child had reached that point. Put something noticeable on their nose and set them in front of a mirror. If they try to rub off the stuff, they've reached that level of development. Curious, we daubed blue eyeshadow on The Cuteness' nose that very day and showed her her reflection in our bedroom mirror. She didn't do anything.

Today, watching her jump in front of the mirror, I decided to try it again. I broke out the blue eyeshadow and dusted her nose with it, then pointed to the mirror.

She looked in, touched her nose, and launched into a two minute soliloquy in which the only recognizable word was "nose". Wolf came in, asked what was going on, and The Cuteness performed another one minute soliloquy where we could only understand "nose". She didn't rub it off, though. I took it off later.

Methinks I'm raising a politician, not an engineer.

*snickers.* Either a politician or a make-up artist. ;)

I almost literally ROTFL! That's just such a classic response.
