I think it's out for blood.

Sarah was feeling more and more bemused. Not a safe feeling, being surrounded by monsters and demons and such, but her little protectors were taking their job very seriously. The succubus had come back with her rum-n-coke and was even faster getting a flask of honey milk and four demitasse cups. Leader and Tiny, the two lap goblins, had made a point of hissing at her while she was serving them, causing the demon to shudder in fear and flee as soon as she could. Who would have thought goblins could frighten a succubus so? Or was it the fact she, Sarah, had been named "Champion" and "Lady"? Sarah hadn't forgotten that midnight adventure through the Labyrinth, but she'd put the whole ordeal behind her as a Life Lesson Learned. However, she knew damned well she was Touched, and she didn't like it. It was unsettling, frustrating, and only occasionally useful, like scaring off unwanted attentions from boys and men. She had known April was Different, Otherworldly, and tonight had proved it. Why, then, did she feel more relaxed in the presence of creatures that would eat her in a heartbeat then she had in years?

Her musings were broken off by a loud screech of guitar strings.

"Yay! Show!" Left and Right, the shoulder goblins, cheered, waving their cups. Sarah looked toward the stage. The band seemed to have settled down. Sarah noticed a werewolf in full fur on an elaborate drum set, a pale vampire in black silk and denim on bass, April on lead guitar and the medusa must play the keyboards, currently abandoned in favor of the mike. It had been the vampire that had tortured his bass. The crowd cheered and howled as the medusa sketched an elegant bow. She was wearing a feather mask in the shape of a snowy owl and her dress was a mix of silver and white that looked entirely too elegant for the surroundings. Ice slid down Sarah's spine.

"Let me hear you scream," The Medusa purred into the mike. Even the goblins joined in the din, making Sarah cover her ears herself. Owwww! Since when did werewolves howl in the C range? Snakey introduced the band, naming the drummer as Luke, the vampire as Nicolai and herself as Euterpe. A smirk slid onto Sarah's lips when she heard the band's name. Moirae? Someone had a strong sense of irony, her money was on Euterpe.

"We have a new set to start tonight," Euterpe announced and smiled at the protests. She waved her hands in a "settle down" gesture. "Fear not, we will be telling Battousai's story for the second set, providing we live that long." THAT caused noticable buzzing in the patrons. Sarah's goblins exchanged worried glances.

"He wouldn't!" Tiny protested.

"He might," Left answered.

"He very upset tonight," Right added.

"Who are you guys talking about?" Sarah asked. The answer was drowned out by the crowd cheering the first song. Sarah blinked in surprise. Springsteen's "Born to Run"? Yes and no. Someone had altered it to fit the crowd and it sounded rather...personal.

The next song showed Moirae's versatilty in covers, as they pulled off the snarkiest "Boss of Me" by TMBG Sarah had ever heard. She was impressed. Euterpe had a good voice and the players were very talented, adding little improvisations during the bridge. Various creatures had left their chairs to bounce along on the dance floor. Euterpe smiled as they launched the next song, a crunchy, bitter version of "Jesus of Suburbia", again altered to fit. Sarah found herself getting caught up in the music, emotions being pulled forth by Euterpe's passionate delivery. This was followed by "Werewolves of London", with Euterpe conducting the weres in the crowd during the howling bits, making Sarah cover her ears again. Really, that hurt! The patrons had barely settled down when Euterpe leaned into her mike.

"All right, this next one is just for the ladies. Come on, girls, let's see your moves. No one cares if you've got someone stashed away, either. Come on out," Cheers and a few werewolf-whistles brought out the girls, as the boys filtered back to their respective tables. Tiny and Leader hopped off Sarah's lap.

"Dance, Lady!" They cried, pushing on her thigh.

"Oh, no you don't! I'm not dancing!" Sarah protested. All four goblins climbed onto the table and gave her puppy eyes to the fourth power. She groaned.

"Oh, fine then! Just...stop. Stop it."

"Yay!" The goblins cheered as she got up and manuvered herself to the dance floor. Moirae had already started playing, a compulsive, throbbing beat. Sarah started bouncing as soon as her boots hit parquet, almost unaware of how the clusters of females moved to accomodate her.

"Half past twelve/And I'm watching the late show in my flat all alone
How I hate to spend the evening on my own. Autumn winds/Blowing outside my window as I look around the room/And it makes me so depressed to see the gloom. There's not a soul out there/No one to hear my prayer

Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight/Won't somebody help me chase the shadows away/Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight/Take me through the darkness to the break of the day," Sarah grooved along, raising her hands with the others in a pleading gesture. Deep inside, the Touched part of her reached out and found what it was looking for. She didn't even see it coming.
