*yawn* Slow today. I like it. Makes it easier for me to keep up with the Keep. Hah! Of course, that means nothing if no one else is playing. Aphie's gone very Eville DM on us. This is fun, because my characters are f*cked up. *nods* One's dead, the other is borderline psycho. And we just had a third bite the mind-snap dust. Whoo hoo! Come on Barbie, let's go party...

Maternal called this morning. She wants the kiddo every Sat. night. Eh heh. Nice try. You can have twice a month, maybe. Told her I'd have to talk to Wolf. She can have him this Sat, if she wants. I do want him here next weekend so he can see all our visitors. Problem with my mom is that she not only spoils, she somehow manages to convince the kiddo he can pull stunts with us. We have to lay a smackdown on him for two days afterwards. (No, not physical. *glares* He gets sent to his room a lot.) Because of this and the general selective hearing, I am leery of giving her too much time with him. Oh, yes. They now must get a car seat. I'm not loaning out ours. They've needed to replace theirs for months now. When they have it, they can come get him. No, we're not delivering. We're not the bus service.

Yeah, I have mother issues. All stems from control quirks, with a little abandonment and low self-esteem thrown in for good measure. Gotta keep an eye on myself, make sure I don't fall into her trap.

Finished Evangelion last night. Turns out we only missed the last five minutes. -_- I think it's more of a mindfuck then Lain. Lain, while weird, was at its heart personal. You were dealing with one girl's search for self. Evangelion was putting the fate of the world in the hands of one kid with serious abandonment issues and you aren't really sure what happened except all the interesting characters died. Of course, neither of these can top FLCL for sheer bizarre factor. Reality versus ambiguity versus dreams. Whokay.

Now to go find something else to replace the clip music playing in my head.

Mmm, Evangelion.

Ow, my brain! Or is it 'Ow, your brain!'? I can never keep it straight...

FLCL and Evangelion are tied for wierdness in my mind. In FLCL, you had no idea what was going on until the last episode, really. In Evangelion, you knew what was going on until the last few episodes, at which point you realized that while you knew, none of it mattered. And then the world exploded.

o_O

Having seen first and last episodes of FLCL

I know I don't want to see anything in-between. *twitch* "Iron out the wrinkles in your brain." *twitch*

You've GOT to see the second!

The Red Robot just kicks so much ass in that one! And it's got the most beautiful scene I've ever seen in an anime.

Make sure to watch...

... the "End of Evangelion" movies as well as the "Director's Cut" versions of the last few episodes that came out. Those (particularly EoE) make the ending make sense and fill in some things.

(EoE fills in a lot of the action details and is quite different from the series ending... the DC, which just came out, adds some scenes from the original which REALLY clarifies things.)

As a friend told me... Evangelion's ending from the series is a head-scratcher. Add in EoE, though, and it makes a lot more sense. It's like the series SHOULD'VE taken 30+ episodes, not 26.

What we watched WAS End of Evangelion.

We saw the series end last year.

My guess is it was the director's cuts, because it was laid out like two episodes. Still didn't clear up much. Third Impact happened by will of Seelie. Everyone died. Shinji wished them to be reborn. Okaaayyyyy. What happened to Shinji? Was he still in the Eva? Why did Oska wash up with him? Did anyone decide to be reborn? Did any of the cool people come back? And why on earth was Shinji trying to strangle Oska again?

Yeah, that was EoE...

... not the DC. The DC is the same episodes, only longer.

I found with EoE, you have to watch it twice to catch it all. There's a lot of seemingly-throw-away statements in there that are actually important. And a lot is left unanswered. IIRC, the only reason that some things have been left as such is that the writer doesn't WANT to answer them. One of those high and mighty "That's the way life is." attitudes, IIRC.

Either way, I found EoE's supplemental ending to be worth it. It makes some things a little more interesting and obvious... better than those last two "crap" episodes of the original series with all the silly talking. (Which are dramatically improved in the DC... DRAMATICALLY!)

Ah. I see.

And you know what? I really don't care that much! Heh. It was worth sitting down and watching. However, it wasn't enough to make me want to go and buy the series. I'll save my money and get Hellsing.
