Had a Fun Day Saturday, where I let the kids decide what we did. Cuteness wanted to go to a vegetable garden, so we went to one of the farms we pass every day. They had a few vegetables, some fruits, strawberry and blueberry wine (I have a blueberry in my wine drawer) and a lot of the general honeys/salsas/preserves/baked goods stuff. We went home with some broccoli, some scallions, the bottle of wine and IDK spent some of his first allowance on jelly beans.

After that, we tried out an orchard, but they were closed. So we went to Ross Park Zoo. I let the kids run ahead and enjoyed the mostly-uphill stroll. It's not quite as bad as Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, but it's close. We also rode the carousel once it opened. IDK took Cuteness for the first run in one of the sleds. I took Cuteness on one of the horses for the second one and took video to prove it.

Lunch was at Whole in the Wall, which I heart SO HARD. Then we went home so I could put the food away and IDK went to ask his buddy to go to the park. We beat the boys on the bikes, thus proving Top Gear wrong in one case. I took my coffee and my Lovecraft anthology to amuse myself while Cuteness played in the playground and IDK watched his friends played basketball. She did have an accident, luckily I'm keeping changes of clothes in the car, as the park bathrooms were locked. Cuteness and I went home after about 30 minutes and chilled in the house while IDK continued to hang out with his friends.

I made a fake stroganoff for dinner with rice and zucchini and yellow beans. My dill yogurt from a few weeks ago curdled beautifully. *sigh* I thought it was pretty good, but my friends would say it needed more spicing. Plenty of leftovers.

Today was snoozing on the couch while Cuteness scattered my hardware box AND my sewing kit all over my room. IDK went to play at 12, so Cuteness and I did the grocery shopping, had a quick visit with Mama A regarding the day camp next week and to give her some flowers, a bop over to Bath and Body works, who had a wicked "Buy 3, get 2 Free" sale going on and I got Japanese Cherry Blossom AND Secret Wonderland body wash and lotion, after carefully testing about six different products. Secret Wonderland is the closest to Night Blooming Jasmine, which was discontinued last year. Lunch was at Take A Break, where I watched the waitresses show a lot of stress given the relative quietness of the restaurant, and learned one of the staff was in a horrible car accident on 7/18, where her boyfriend died and she herself needed surgery and will be out for at least another 2-4 weeks. I donated to the cause and asked the manager to please give her a hug from one young widow to another.

Laundry is still being done, and I will continue to veg out on the couch. I got the kitchen 2/3 cleaned up and the dining room table tidied. I'm good.

After Zahde and I dined last night, we discussed spending the evening driving to your house and hanging out, perhaps overnight. It sounds like you had a busy enough day without us.

The only reason I did so much running around today was because I only had to deal with one kiddo.

You are welcome any time.

Zucchini and Yellow Bean Stroganoff over Rice sounds good. Stroganoff is not supposed to be spicy, although yours probably needed more onions. In culinary terms "Stroganoff" means "with sour cream sauce", the way "Florentine" means "with spinach"

I had no sour cream, hence the yogurt substitute. It came out a little sweet. I really should have put some ginger into it. And you know how I feel about onions. If I want onion flavor, I will use onion salt. The ratatouille we made last week only tasted of peppers after three days.

The zucchini and yellow beans were steamed separately.
