Tired Queenie is tired.

And I still have the drive back, but fortunately, Chezzie & Polar Bear will do the long stint.
Hampton Inns have nice chains. The hot tub was cold Friday night, we got in about 9:45 pm and by 10:15 we were kicked out. Got to bed at a decent time, didn't sleep well as expected.
Saturday morning was breakfast, class and another round in the hot tub. MUCH BETTER! Between Chezzie, PageofSwords, Polar Bear and myself, we got everyone cleaned up and gussied up in roughly an hour-hour.5 The drive to the venue was easy.
Megs & Jegs (hahaha) had an outdoor ceremony. I was amazed at the dragonflies. There were...6-10 buzzing around the seats, feasting, so I didn't have the swarms of little bugs in my face like I normally do. There was also a nice breeze to keep things comfortable. Jegs gets quite the accent around his family, it's adorable.
The ceremony was short and sweet. Jegs made everyone laugh with his vows and Megs made everyone laugh when she snarked back. They are so adorable!
I'm not qualified to expound on clothes and shoes, but I will say Zombie Platform Heels are full of Win and I will be lusting after the bridesmaids hairpieces for a very long time. I hope they got to keep those, they were GORGEOUS!! There was a good variety of dresses and heels and well toned legs to admire. Roller derby works wonders on calves and thighs.
The reception had table assignments, I was very glad I was seated with my friends and the Bermanian Royalty. There was another family there that Chezzie recognized from previous parties. We were asked if Pageofswords and I were Chezzie's. That got a good laugh.
Irony came when I went to get a drink, thinking a mimosa would be good. I'm standing in line in front of Polar Bear and he leans over and says "You remembered ID, right?"
...
FUCK.
No, I hadn't. My purple dress doesn't have pockets, I don't own any dressy purses and while the boning in the bodice was good for holding a few tissues, I hadn't even THOUGHT of bringing my ID.
"No, I guess I'll get a soda," I said. Polar Bear said he'd get something for me and I slunk back to my table, shaking my head. He came back with a wine spritzer that lasted most of the night.
The food was good, especially the prime rib and the spinach salad. The soup was served in a largish stainless steel bowl like I have for baking. Pageofswords stepped up and served, which was very nice of him. Chezzie and I couldn't decide if it was clever or a copout. I felt sorry for the vegetarian at the table, she could only eat two of the courses.
The DJ annoyed me a little with the games, but that's my low tolerance talking. He was very energetic and kept to the "3 fast/1 slow" ratio. I was grateful he played "I'll Be Your Crying Shoulder" before dinner. There was a lot of derby music, I kicked off my silver shoes and did a quick mashup of Highland Dancing during an Irish rock number. The father of the bride complemented me. (^_^)
I got to dance with Pageofswords and Polar Bear and that was very nice. Thanks again!!
The Bermanian Royalty arrived before dinner, I was so proud!, and it was so cute watching them dance. I had never seen that before!
We called it a night around 10 pm and headed back to the hotel. I slept better and I anticipate snoozing in the car on the way back to NY.
I snitched a rose petal and a few lily petals from the venue to leave with Wolf's tree next week.
All in all, it was a wonderful time. I'm so very glad for Megs & Jegs, they're an adorable couple and deeply in love. Blessings to you both!
