Old Barn Hollow, my closest and currently only one open farmer's market, DOES have goat milk by the half gallon!

They also have whole milk by the half gallon.

OH MY STARS AND GARTERS AND LACES AND RIBBONS!!! I HAVE BEEN SO DEPRIVED!!

Cream on top. Honest to Goddess CREAM on top! I had to scrape out the cream to get to the milk. I tasted it and almost fainted. IDK tasted it and went "Wow!" Cuteness tasted it and said "This is cream."

I am NEVER going back. NEVER!!

I will pay the extra for the good stuff now that I know. I will budget it accordingly. I will go without GUMMI CANDY for this milk.

*swoon*

*grin* it is wonderful isn't it? A few years back I was getting fresh raw(unpasteurized) goat milk from a local goat farmer out in Eastern Colorado. It was amazing and totally worth the extra price. I've tried the raw whole cow's milk with cream and liked it. There was just no easy source to get it in the Springs, since the several milk shares that do cow milk are all North of Denver. Goat milk is also easier for humans to digest.

Now a days I don't do much milk at all, and when I do it's plant based. FYI, if you need to, it tends to freeze pretty well, you will just need to shake it up once it defrosts. :)

*hugs*

Oh, CS SUCKS for getting good milk. I didn't know what whole milk tasted like until I was an adult, thanks to my maternal unit and her "I'm going on a low fat, low salt diet and SO ARE YOU!" attitude. Hells, I didn't even know milk could TASTE good until I got out to NY!

No offense, but I'm SO GLAD I'm out of that state! (^_^)

Real milk

When I was a kid, my uncle's wife's family owned a dairy farm, and I grew up drinking raw, unhomogenized milk. I didn't die from any cow disease.
When I went off to college, I discovered I didn't really love milk the way I had when I was younger. I just figured I had lost my taste for it as a result of growing up.
Then I tried "Hudson Valley Fresh." It's a local co-op (partially organized by my cousin's husband the dairy farmer) that gets the milk into the store 24 hours after it leaves the cow. Oh, my. Just like I remembered. I buy it as a treat once in a while, because we don't drink that much milk and I hate to waste the good stuff. But it is Teh Awesome.

Yes, exactly. When you can't trust the water, but you can trust what came out of your animal, then of COURSE you're going to survive!
