I had a WONDERFUL time. I feel more relaxed, my face is clearer, my skin is softer and my nails look FABULOUS.

A full breakdown after the kiddos are in bed. I'm wicked hungry and the pizza won't be here for a while yet. Might have to dig into my leftover lunch.

Okay, kiddos are asleep.

I was there 20 minutes early, I was so excited. I made myself sit in the car and read for ten.

White Rose Day Spa moved last year from Bunn Hill Road to the top of Old Vestal Road. The building is more then twice as big and they took full advantage of the extra space. There were statues in the foyer, some a good two feet high, and the front desk area was bigger then my living room and dining room combined. I checked in, filled out my release form and ordered a chicken & portobello wrap from Applebees. I didn't get the smoothie I asked for, but that's okay. I fixed myself a cup of Taos green tea.

My first treatment was a reflexology massage. I had the usual problem of the disposable undies being much too big. The MT (massage therapist) found smaller panties, but nothing for up top. I shrugged and agreed to use a pillowcase to cover my barely As during the body wrap. After I was changed and had a towel wrapped around me, I left my pentacle on top of my clothes.

The reflexology started with her stroking my heels and up my calves to my knees while I was prone (on my tummy). I asked a few technical questions and learned the heels are related to the intestines, the ball of the foot is related to the heart, the top outer edge of the left foot is related to the shoulder and/or the gallbladder and the line between the first and second toe over the instep is related to the esophagus. All areas I have known problems with and most a family history of issues. This was very useful information.

When I switched to supine (on my back), she saw my moons tattoo and asked if it was a Goddess symbol. I confirmed it. Then she moved my clothes to a cupboard so they wouldn't get stained by the seaweed wrap, saw my necklace and asked "Are you pagan?"

"I'm a witch."

"Awesome! I love working on pagans and witches and druids! I'm a shaman."

"Really?" This lead to a lovely chat about rituals and covens and groups and pantheons. I have her business card in my back pocket, she gave me a website address for a group in MA that hold large, days-long conventions in the spring and fall. She also gave me a website for all natural, holistic products for various skin conditions, as she suspects the patch on my back is either eczema or psoriasis. There's a family history for that too.

The body wrap started with a french vanilla sugar scrub that quickly induced a craving for a good hot coffee. While that was still on my skin, she applied the seaweed mask, after she got more because the first batch had liquified from the heat. (the scrub was deliciously warm, which didn't help the coffee craving) The seaweed mask was much colder, but I only yelped from the first application. Once my body was slathered in minty green goo, she wrapped me up in the sheets and thermal blankets, dimmed the lights and told me to relax. Which I did. Until the CD changer dialed up a disc of bagpipe and Irish music. (^_^) I spent the rest of the time rehearsing Highland dances in my head and realized I've forgotten whole sections.

When she came back she asked if I was relaxing and I said "Not to this music!" She laughed. While the wet towels were getting piping hot, she unwrapped me. Now I was cold, so I started wiggling my feet to the music, doing a simple move called a "Poddy-Bah", much like a jig. She turned around with a hot towel and burst out laughing.

"You're free, might as well dance!"

"Exactly."

Sugar is a very sticky substance. It took about six towels, plus the top sheet to clean me off. She applied a lovely lotion and left me to get dressed, informing me I had cookies waiting specifically from one of the other women.

"Would that be A?" I asked.

"Yes, actually."

"Thought so. She's my boyfriend's aunt."

"Really! She's so nice."

"Yes, yes she is."

I got dressed, after cleaning off a few stray specks of vanilla bean, and went out to the "Quiet Area". There were my cookies, homemade biscotti, and a goblet of water. I fell on the cookies, as I was very hungry.

The facial expert (FE) came out and introduced herself and fetched me more tea. Since I expressed my love of green tea, she promised me a green tea mask during the facial. My lunch showed up within ten minutes of my second cookie *sigh*, brought by A personally. I gave her a hug and thanked her for the cookies. I still managed to eat half the wrap and most of the vegetables.

The facial was a one hour "European". This included a double cleansing, steam application, electrolysis of the few blackheads and pimples I had, extractions of the rest of the blackheads, a green tea mask, an exfoliant, one-two hydrating serums, a hand massage, a brief foot massage through my socks, and a quick shoulder/neck massage. She finished with a rich facial lotion and said I had wonderful skin and looked nothing like 35. (^_^)

FE gave me a quick tour of the rest of the spa section, including the hydro-table, a torpedo shaped capsule that rinses your body from all directions. Your head stays out of the mechanism, so it's not as claustrophobic as, say, a MRI machine, but it might be too much for some people. I want to try it next time.

On the salon side, they had twice the pedicure stations they once had, plus a much expanded hair salon. I took advantage of the pedicure station's massage chair and got my back done while having the pedicure. Really, you put together the right services and you can walk out with about 2-3 hand/foot massages and a back massage and never see an actual massage therapist. It's rather clever.

A came in to cover for another manicure while mine was being done and introduced me to the entire room as her nephew's girlfriend. I waved. She then asked for my fabulous red hat. Everyone there loved my fabulous red hat. It's such a kick. Sadly, my head is smaller then A's, so she couldn't borrow it.

I came home with fingers and toes done in "Drop Dead Gorgeous", a rich, patent leather shiny red. I wanted something fabulous to show off when I go back to data monkey-ing on Monday.

I gushed to SNB about the wonderful, wonderful time and thanked him several times for such a nice birthday present. I brought home the rest of my lunch and a few cookies from A. Dinner was pizza. SNB left at 6 for his Friday Night MtG Game. I dozed on the couch from 6:30 to 8:45, when Cuteness insisted she needed to go to bed. IDK disappeared sometime during those two hours to his own bed.

Now I'm debating. Do I want to try and beat that damned Protoss mission, or do I fix myself some spiked hot chocolate with that wonderful, wonderful milk and watch Top Gear?

Top Gear.
