Scene: Window seat. Sarah is in her corner, clutching another mug of steaming tea and staring out the window. Snowflakes dance across the garden without really touching anything. True Blue comes in wearing a fake flower headband and waving a green wand with a puffy, shiny flower on top and green streamers.
"That was a pretty good party."
Yes. I wasn't nearly as resentful as last year. It helps that I'm sick.
"Sinus infection?"
Sinus infection. Sarah brings her mug to her nose and breathes the steam in. This goes on for about 45 seconds.
"Helping?"
A little. Sip.
"Is the illness why you haven't talked to me in about four days?"
Mostly. It's hard to concentrate when your head is stuffed with yellow goo.
"True. Where are you on your road map?"
Out of gas. Sarah takes another drink and lowers the mug. I'm sitting on the ground waiting for this infection to clear up. I should probably go to the doctor, if I can get in at a reasonable time.
"So what have you done for yourself lately?"
Drank lots of tisanes. Naps. Going to bed early. Stayed away from the caffeine and the dairy. I need lunch. True Blue shakes her head.
"You really can't focus. That's okay. Work on getting better and seriously call your PCP. Sinus infections don't go away on their own. You've had enough of them to know that."
Word.
