Scene: Tea Table. Sarah has her arms folded on the table and her head buried in them. Tiger is gently stroking a patch of hair with his paw. True Blue walks in, book thumping against her leg.
"Migraines suck."
Blarg.
"However, at the moment, I'm more concerned about your trigger earlier today."
You think it caused the migraine?
"I think you reacted differently and I want to know why."
That's a good question. Sarah does not budge. Tiger shifts his paw to the right and continues petting.
"Well?"
I got angry. Sarah's shoulders twitch in a shrug. I was surprised, but geez. The woman was in her seventies. She was the caregiver. I was proud of her for calling in for help. It's funny how they all ask me the same thing. I feel rather Crone-ish.
"Why anger?" Another twitching shrug
S'not fair.
What did you tell her?
Hold your memories close and you're stronger then you think.
How did she respond?
She cried. She had been holding it in the entire call. She thanked me, sort of. I think. I know I didn't believe anyone when they told me I was strong, but nobody surrounding me the week after Wolf died was a widow. Well, except Chezzie, honorarily, and I don't remember her saying that. I was pretty shock-y and mine lasted a lot longer. It felt right to tell her that. Not in admiration or sympathy, but as honest encouragement. I hope she took that way. I'll feel bad if she didn't.
"You got angry because it's unfair."
Pretty much. And then I suppressed it so I could continue doing my job. So, yeah. I can see how it could contribute to a migraine. Sarah twitches. Oh gods, they're playing Battlefield 4. I think I'll stay upstairs.
"You need to eat something."
Gummi worms don't count? Tiger sniggers. True Blue sighs and shakes her head.
"No, they don't and you know that."
Meh.
