Scene: Window seat. True Blue, sporting a light blue eyelet shirt and brightly flowered skirt, is reading the book. Sarah comes in, jeans and her Digger Omnibus t-shirt, rubbing her butt.
The Garden Wannabe is taking a muscular bruising.
"Sore?"
Oh yeah. Thighs too. Didn't get that bath last night, sooo taking one tonight.
"How do you feel?"
Spring Feverish and sad, which is a hell of a combination and I'm not sure what to think about it.
"Why are you sad?"
Um. Sarah dusts off her muddy knees & sits down. Because I can't share the giddiness with SLB.
"Ah. He did say as much. Spring perks him up, but he isn't infected by it."
No drive, no inspiration, just feeling better overall. While I'm equal parts bouncing off the walls with ideas and hustling about tidying up. Those cobwebs in the upstairs hallway are DOOOOOMMMEEEEDDDD. I'm also sad I can't dive into the front bed and go nuts.
"Why not?"
Still a risk of frost. It was close to freezing this morning and it'll happen again next week. Can't put the bulbs in yet.
"You could still dig out the back of the bed, get all those ugly roots out and aerate the soil. You have all that mulch you shoveled all by yourself."
Don't my arms know it too. I'm a little worried about damaging the daffodils.
"That section next to the rose bush isn't daffodil territory."
True and that sapling needs to GO. I suppose I could dig that out. The mulch doesn't HAVE to go down today. I can save it for actual planting in a week or three, keep it on the porch.
"Or spread it over the daffodils and get more to store on the porch until planting time."
That too. Ah, options. Technically I should be cleaning too.
"Your soul cries out for flowers. Focus on that for now and do the homecare as needed. You need to play in the dirt."
Yay, playing in the dirt! Cause I won't have time next week!
"And you can play video games after you've done the work."
Hum, hum. I think I'll put the laundry away and demolish some cobwebs. SLB leaves in about an hour, I can play then. Save some playing in the dirt for tomorrow.
"Make sure you put the mulch somewhere safe."
Yes'm.
"I'm proud of you."
Awww.
