accepts the fact she is NOT a goddess. Yet.
has what she needs to start seeds indoors.
finally found primroses!
will have marigolds too!
can actually see the top of her bottle border for the first time in four months!
has a clear of snow south side but still very frozen ground.
is looking forward to the experiment.
accepts the fact she will need someone to come check on snake and water seedlings while she's in FL.
is keeping mint, sage & oregano alive on her kitchen windowsill.
accepts the fact basil is beyond her.
notices there's a lot of accepting in this post. Um, yay?

Basil is very needy

Basil likes me, tomatoes hate me. I had to give basil away the one time I grew it, but I cannot seem to get a decent tomato crop. NYSEG took out a tree and some foliage on the south side of the house, so we're moving the portable garden there this year in hopes of having vegetables.
I have Black Krim, Sweet 100, Sungold, and another beefsteak variety (seeds, that is). Lettuce (which does very well) I have mixed cut-and-come-again Romaine blend, some cucumbers, we're trying kale and collards this year, and a few herbs.

We are going to attempt carrots, broccoli, beans, peas and cucumbers. We have 2 peat pot trays of broccoli and primrose seeds in the ritual room hanging out by the southern window. Sprouting will take 2-3 weeks according to the packages. The helpful man at Lowes said cucumbers, peas and beans can go gangbusters in the right conditions and die horrible deaths in a hard freeze, so wait until after May 1. The peat pots can be planted directly in the garden, yay!

We got carrots, too. We've struck out two years in a row with broccoli and brussels sprouts, so we gave up.
