Now trying to get financing for a new furnace. Turns out the one we have is only good for about 10 years and it was installed 6 years ago.

Yeah.

So now I'm getting a Lennox Energy Star to be installed tomorrow. This plus the insulation work I had done in August means the house should use less energy to stay warm. Here's hoping.

You might be eligible for a tax credit, by virtue of installing a more energy-efficient appliance. It's worth checking into.
