Spent the weekend up at Gumby-chan's. See! I told you! Anyway, we had the kiddo with us. Besides driving home with a six inch train spike just how INAPPROPRIATE that household is for child-rearing, we realized those guys are wasting money left, right and sideways. In UTILITIES! Of all things! The cupboards could run for "Old Mother Hubbard" status, as can the fridge. Wolf and I bought breakfast foods at Safeway, it was the only way we could feed the kiddo. Not only that, but water is leaking at a significant rate, costing them probably hundreds of dollars a month, and it's a simple fix! *shakes head* Gumby-chan knows how much it'll be to repair, but he wants the landlord to do it. *snerk* SHE's not the one paying the utility bill and water is damned expensive here in CO.

We figure by fixing the leak in the swamp cooler line, installing a thermostat so the demned thing doesn't run 24/7 and empty/clean/refill the hot tub instead of using a hose for twenty minutes to flush out detergent bubbles, we can save that entire household 100/month, each! Easy. As for the deplorable lack of food, can we say Sam's Club? Bulk is beautiful, ESPECIALLY when you're feeding 5 adults constantly. Gods, it was scary just how empty those cupboards were. And one roomie's diabetic! No way to live. I understand money being tight, but GEEZ! You've gotta eat!

I'm hoping we land jobs here in the Springs, because I will not be able to stand living in that house for more then a few months. Hell, being there a weekend with the kiddo was stressful enough. That hot tub's gonna have to be covered. We're lucky the kiddo's not afraid of water, we took him in earlier today. That was fine, but as we were saying goodbye, he snuck off to splash his arms in it. There was about five minutes where he could've easily drowned. *shudder* Too scary.

On the plus side, Denver has a far superior bus system and a light rail currently being built in the Englewood area. So getting me around will be about as expensive for a monthly pass for a much higher quality and quantity of bus service.

So, now we wait and see. We can survive on unemployment, provided I get as much as I did before and we cut about 100 out of our food budget. Wish us luck.
